Hi, Just found out yesterday that one of the fraternal twins I was carrying hasn't made it. Good news is other twin is doing great at 9 weeks 4 days. Has anyone else had this and did surviving twin continue to do well. This is fourth pregnancy so done it before, all other 3 are singles.

So sorry to hear this but i'm afaid I have no experience of this. Just wanted to say my thoughts are with you, along with best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy x

hisorry to hear your news i had 3 single births (all healthy) with 2 early miscarriages in between.i am now 32 weeks pregnant with what began as a twin pregnancy i visited epu at 6 weeks as i thought i was miscarrying and they confirmed it was twins one of which i had lost (hence the spotting) they also found an empty sac along side the one with the baby in.remaining baby is doing fine (so far)its kinda mixed emotions all the way through but i was told this one was no more at risk than a single baby .
i have had a few complications due to high risk blood test results so i had an amnio (which thankfully gave good results)and a bout of pneumonia but none of this was linked to the twin aspect
good luck with the rest of your pregnancy hth

I'm really sorry to hear this. I know you didn't say you were bleeding but a few people have bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy but go on to have a healthy pregnancy and the bleeding is sometimes caused by losing a twin but because it happened in the eary stages they didn't know they were carrying twins.

I hope the rest of your pregnancy runs smoothly.

this happened to my sister, she lost one at around 10 weeks. other baby is now my niece rachael who is nearly 2 she had no probs with the rest of pregnancy at all. one thing though do grieve the twin youve lost, my sis sometimes still says oo i wonder etc. and take no notice of anyone who cant understand as you still have a baby, you've still lost one that was much wanted. my sis kind of looks at it as being that if it hadnt have been a twin preg she may have ended up with no baby at all.

CAT me. Would like to talk more in private and are going to do the school run now.

Hiya, hasn't happened to me but apaprently this is a lot mroe common than people realise (according to Obstetrician- they thought it may be the case with ds1 but it wasn't, he was OK and a singleton, I had a different complication).

There's even some theories relating left handedness to this, which I would rpesume would then mean 15% of pg's, as that's iirc the % of left ahnders.

Good luck with the rest of the pg

This happened to my mum with my youngest sister - she turns 23 on Monday!!

Thanks for all these, think I'll be neurotic all through with this one now! Isn't the internet a scary place, and why does it bring up the worst possible pages??
Really not sure how to feel as could have not known hadn't we gone to EPU,( though they said it probably would be evident due to size and sac.)And one is surviving so should be happy, but then again will I always think that he/she could've been one of a little duo. Then I have three kids, all happy and healthy so should be thankful, lots of people would give everything to have one baby...Bloody hormones I guess too?! Saying that EPU said the little one probably lived til Monday, Monday morning all my horrendous nausea had pretty much gone, sometimes you just know your own body...
Sorry for the rant!
