So I'm 6 weeks pregnant, my sickness/nausea is getting worse and I called my docs they aren't doing any face to face appts.. and told me to ring the early pregnancy unit for them to prescribe something.
That doesn't sound right to me? Any advice it's getting really bad now... I had bad nausea while washing the dishes and I don't feel lik eating anything!

No, the GP should prescribe medication for morning sickness. Although in my area to you can't self refer to EPAU, it has to be through the GP/midwife.

Guessing you've tried the usual suggestions eg ginger, eating little and often, eating something small before you sit up and get out of bed in the mornings, accupressure bands. Flowers it's miserable, hope you get sorted quickly

Not sure about now but when I had hyperemesis I had to be referred via my doctor but I was so sick I went to A&E and was referred in by them for a drip for 24 hours and monitoring then they prescribed me drugs and gave me an anti sickness injection.

Your doctor may be saying that because you may need monitoring and a drip for dehydration which is common in hyperemesis I would do as he has said and call your local unit it would be wise to be checked over...

Sorry not sure how to correctly spell hyperemesis Hmm

Hope you feel better soon the sickness is horrendous Daffodil

That doesn't sound like usual practise to me either..

HG with dd and its started up a bit earlier this time. I phoned at 5 weeks and had a phone consultation where they prescribed antisickness meds, this has happened twice now (10 weeks) and I've taken a sample to check for ketones too. The surgery is shut but open if that makes sense? If there is a Dr there then they ought phone you at least

The only justification is if this is first pregnancy or first occurance and what you told them has given rise to concerns you may need hospital treatment.
I was sent to epu and mau with dd pregnancy a few times to have iv antisickness and fluids as so dehydrated. Could this be why? It would save time and get you seen quicker?

Follow their suggestion and see what the epu say and do but definitely get checked out from someone ASAP if you are suffering so badly and do it well before Dr's close for the day just incase they refer you back to your gp

All the best, it is awful but hopefully will ease soon Flowers
