Hi,

I’m almost 20 weeks and I’m starting to think about what I need to buy and which things that choose for baby.
In terms of a pram, when did you purchase one? How many weeks were you? When is too soon to start buying larger items?

Also...how do you choose which pram to get? I really like look of the bugbaooo chameleon but are there others similar to this that would be good?

I got mine when I was about 30 weeks. If you can wait until shops like John Lewis open again I would do that. Book a baby personal shopper appointment and they'll block out an hour or two just for you to go through all the pram options. Really depends on when & where you'll use it and if you plan on needing it to convert to a double but they can cover all this. They were really helpful with me.

I was about 25 weeks. Found it all over whelming, the choices and features. I basically set a budget, decided the most important thing was that it folded small to fit in my car, and went to mothercare (before it closed) and picked one. My baby doesn't like the pram much, prefers to be in the sling, so it's largely gathering dust. I know some people who have got some great deals 2nd hand.

I’d wait till the shops are open as you really need to look at the prams in person, try pushing them around, and see what you find most comfortable/user friendly.

Worth thinking about how you’ll be using it - country walks or crowded city streets? Buses or cars? Do you need a big basket for your weekly shop? Will you need to carry it up steps, keep it folded up at home, and will you be somewhere hot or cold when the baby’s young? All will be relevant!

Buy second hand if you can though, Facebook and eBay are full of prams.

It's so overwhelming! We used lots of online reviews. It's good to think about what your priorities are: what terrain you'll be going on, if you need to take it on public transport, the size of your car boot, easy of folding, storage space at home, size of basket underneath, handle height, budget.

It's worth doing research because some look good and then you realise it's extra for the carry cot, rain cover, foot muff, car seat adapters and before you know you've spent £400 more than you meant to!
