Hello there,

I’m just setting up changing table upstairs and downstairs caddy bag.

What nappy cream should I buy for newborn? In my caddy bag for the living room I have:

Cotton wool
Water wipes
Nappies

What else do I need please?

Thanks so much!

Yellow metanium hands down.
Maybe a muslin or two. I used them in the May of it was chilly.
I also cut a few up and used them to dry dd off. It felt off to put a nappy on while she was still wet.

On the mat.

I don't know why auto correct thinks that it knows better than I do what I wanted to say.

Sudocrem for a little bit red
Metanium for sore

Nappy bags?

HildaSnibbs · 19/05/2020 22:03

A muslin or terry square to lay on the changing mat: no bare skin against cold change mat so less crying, soaks up any mid change wee, use to pat dry before putting clean nappy on.

Weleda calendula nappy cream is brilliant, a little goes a long way and it clears up nappy rash every time.

We use bepanthen.

Also we used water wipes previously but switched to cheeky wipes (reusable) and I much prefer them. Would really recommend them.

Deffoe water wipes

FourPlasticRings · 19/05/2020 22:11

Metanium. White for normal bums, yellow for sore bums.

Aveeno nappy cream is good
Muslins also good to help dry baby off
Small Toys for baby to play with

I also kept kept Calpol in the nappy caddy, as well as a change of clothes I could easily grab

Luxembourgmama · 19/05/2020 22:16

Second the weleda nappy cream

MammytoElla · 19/05/2020 22:19

@firstimemamma
Exactly the same as me. Bepanthem. Used water wipes and now use cheeky wipes! I love them!

Sudocrem, nappy bags, muslins and bibs. I also kept fresh sleepsuits and body suits in there for the first few months because she used to wee everytime her nappy was off.

Campurp · 19/05/2020 22:22

We’ve always used bepanthen and water wipes. Never had a nappy rash in his 10 months.

Littlepoppet1 · 19/05/2020 22:24

We used Bapanthen, always found really good.
Add Muslins and spare vests/sleepsuit in your caddy bag!

We have nappies, nappy bags (for poops only), wipes (Boots do an own brand water wipe which is half the price), Sudocreme and a bit of talc. There's muslins in there and nail clippers in the side pocket. I've never actually had to use nappy cream on DD though.

I would really recommend getting some change mat liners like these. We use them and they stop the baby getting cold on the plastic mat and mop up escaping wees. You could use a muslin but these are heavier with a waterproof backing, and even 8 month old DD can't scoot them around when she's wriggling.

Might just be me but I hate bepantham. No nappy cream at every change, just make sure they are clean and dry, yellow metanium if sore. That stuff is a godsend.
