Stretch marks on stomach

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and over the last week I've had quite a lot of dark red stretch marks appear on my stomach.

Obviously the main thing is baby is growing well and arrives safely, but I'm finding the developing stretch marks are really affecting me - they're sore and it upsets me every time I look in the mirror.

I've been using bio oil and palmers moisturiser a couple of times a day, to try and relieve the soreness and itchiness if nothing else.

Anyone else who has experienced stretch marks, are they likely to get worse in the last few weeks of pregnancy (I don't feel mine could be much worse!), and did the redness take a long time to fade?

Yes unfortunately I got all of mine almost over night right at the end, they were quite sore and itchy. They are unsightly whilst pregnant as they're very stretched but after actually only a few months of giving birth they fade a lot and now my daughter is 3 they are so pale you'd hardly really notice them. I don't think there's anyway around them, if your going to get them I think you just will. I used bio oil daily but still got them, try not to worry as they're very common and now I kinda view them as the sign of what my body did to make my beautiful little girl. Just keep them moist to reduce the itching and try to enjoy your bump in all its glory Thanks

I got them everywhere at the end. All over my stomach, breasts, thighs, backs of knees. They were angry and red and sore. My dc are 13 and 8 now and they're all white or silver. Some have left little grooves and craters but most are much, much better than they were. But I grew two babies, my body had to change.

Lotions and potions will help you feel less sore and itchy but the skin is tearing at a level not reached by creams really. You get them or you don't.

They do get better. Promise.

Thankyou both, that's made me feel a bit better 😊
