Painful hips and thighs

Hi all

I'm waking up in the morning and throughout the night with really sore hips and thighs. I'm 15 wks pregnant and wondered if this is normal?

I'm trying to sleep on my sides but usually sleep on my back or stomach. I'm hoping it's just a change in sleeping position causing it but was worried as it is quite painful

:(

Hi yes I had really painful hips from quite early on about 16 weeks - that came and went I think it's the relaxin hormone and your ligaments moving out the way to make space! The further along I've got (now 38 weeks) I get really bad thigh pain in the night too and now pelvic pain! I found for the hips and thighs get a good pregnancy pillow - it will also help you adjust to sleeping on your side (it's best to sleep on your side the further you get along anyway, something to do with oxygen getting to the placenta) - it's good to tuck part of it in between your legs - that helped my hips a lot. I found this one really good, it's not cheap but has really helped

and for back/pelvic pain I found a birthing ball helps a bit bouncing around on that as too uncomfortable sometimes to sit in a hard chair/low sofa Flowers

Hey @NicNac100 that's really helpful. Thank you!

I've just got the pregnancy ball delivered so will give that a go and order a sleep pillow.

It's really frustrating as I thought it was down to me not being active as I usually am whilst in quarantine. It's difficult to go for regular walks as I live in a busy area and spend all day on a chair working...strange times

Yes it could be that too to be fair, I've been WFH for 9-10 weeks now and normally have a fair bit of walking/commuting/walking round the office and I've been quite chair bound WFH - also haven't been going for walks really as didn't want to go out much as I too live in a busy area and lucky enough to have a garden for fresh air so I think being active can definitely help a bit too, maybe a little walk round the block - I found a good YouTube lady BodyFit by Amy she does some really light pregnancy workouts for all three trimesters, very low impact but good to help with movements. I also did a bit of pregnancy yoga so before you get too big some of the hip and thigh stretches can help there too :)

I’ve also had this since about 14 weeks (21 now.) Tingly, numb, painful. I find that pillows help, experiment with some smaller ones until you find what’s comfy. Also not wearing anything tight at night that grips around that area (either no knickers or really big ones!)

My midwife said the same about ligaments relaxing. My body’s not so keen on pregnancy so far!
