So i had my last period on 3/5/2020 (took a test the day before - negative) and today i woke up thinking hmm my boobs are still sore from my period, So i decide to do a test and its positive. How is this even possible? I did 5 in total they all say positive. Just really confused right now x

Could it have been an implantation bleed rather than your period?

Mummy2Mase · 14/05/2020 16:23

@superscientist well i don't think so as it was enough to use a pad like any normal period and i didn't have bleeding with my son so i'm literally so confused right now x

Sounds like your period could have been an implantation bleed. Could you get a test that says how far along you are? If it was implantation then you'd probably be somewhere between 3 and 5 weeks.

Alternatively, you could have ovulated really early after your period, though the tests you've done would have to be super sensitive to detect such a tiny amount of HcG only a few days after you conceived, so it's unlikely.

@Williams3001 I only have the cheap strips as i am not able to get out and online would take a few days - but even then would they give 5 false positives? i havent had sex since like 18th April so thats around the time i ovulated as i used the ovulation strips also.

Not very likely! Unless perhaps they're all from the same batch and faulty. But still very unlikely. I meant that the test to tell you how far along could tell you if you'd got pregnant in the week since your period or if it was an implantation bleed. If you haven't had sex since mid-April though, then it must have been an implantation bleed: congrats!

I'd get in touch with your GP to tell them about the pregnancy and the bleed (and that you're confused; they may have a better more medical answer!). They may want to do bloods or book you for an early scan to check things over, depending on how heavy the bleed was.

@Williams3001 i thought implantation bleeding was really light and pinkish brown that was not what i had >< i think im going to have to order a clearblue online to see whats what

It's usually lighter than a period though it can include red blood (but you know your cycle best, of course). I'd recommend you call your GP as well, as they will probably want to check for other reasons for the bleed and positive test 10 days later.
