Has anyone used these?

They are finally back in stock for size 1! Grin

Now I've got the choice though, I'm torn between bamboo and cotton. There are loads more reviews for bamboo, because they're the best sellers so it's hard to work out which is best.

Wondering about the 10-pack kit in cotton to start us off, plus a bamboo night-time set? Liking the look of these new no-velcro ones too.

Any experiences would be very helpful! X

We inherited some. Bamboo is far better at locking in but takes loads longer to dry. I would go for a mixture and some pockets and bamboo liners.

Mind are all velcro though. They are 6 years old but have kept well.

Chichz · 13/05/2020 21:40

Thanks @Incontinencesucks (great name btw...). The 10-pack includes a nappy pail and liners etc so seems like a good deal.

I have. I'd go for bamboo personally as it's more absorbant and cotton can go very scratchy when it dries like a rough towel.

I found that little lambs came up quite small and would have needed all 3 sizes for my toddler ( who was potty trained at 19 months so wasn't enormous) so I actually preferred tots bots bamboozles as although they are more expensive initially I didn't have to keep buying the next size up.

Bamboo nappies for night is a great plan but I would look at other types of nappies for day as well as they are pretty bulky. You could get birth to potty nappies which again are marginally more expensive but you won't need to buy bigger sizes.
I'd maybe buy one or two and see which ones you prefer. Something like a baba and boo or a little lovebum quickdry which are very popular and have good resale value if you don't get on with them. They both have discount codes so you can get them for around £12/13.

Incontinencesucks · 13/05/2020 21:44

Thanks, It's pretty apt right now 🤣.

Definitely, especially if they have a sale. I've learnt that size 1s get tight around 5 months but are looser again by 7 when the babies slim down from more activity.

EverythingNow · 13/05/2020 21:45

Yes I've used since my little boy was 4 days old. I used little lamb bamboo, with a bamboo booster and fleece liner. Covered in a little lambs wrap although I buy TJs wraps now as there is more choice.

In the early days I used Little lamb bamboo, or folded muzlinz in a little lambs wrap with a nappy nippa.

We only use Little lambs at night now and use other cloth nappies in the day.

Abzs · 13/05/2020 21:45

The cotton will dry slightly quicker, but the bamboo is more absorbent.
I have bamboo ones for over night. I prefer the one size pocket nappy for day time.
I found the little lamb size one was quite big, but mine are a few years old and they've had a redesign of the wrap at least since then. I had the tots bots bamboozle and peenut wrap in size one, then the little lambs in size two and three. DS1 was rather bigger than DS2, so I may not need the size three this time round.

Chichz · 13/05/2020 21:51

Thanks for all the advice ladies! I'm pretty set on Little Lamb after researching a little while ago and I do prefer the idea of the 2-part system, but maybe that will wear thin quite quickly!

Guess I could get the pocket nappies 10-pack instead and have the 2-parter bamboo ones for night...

@MrsClutterbucksbaby The Nappy Lady keeps posting on Instagram about Littlovebums... They look super cute! Will bear them in mind.

In the early days (when you're changing so frequently) 2 parts are brilliant as you can use the same wrap more than once provided it's not soiled.

I started with LL, and some muzlinz..I added in some baba and boo as they are gorgeous.

Now I use mama koala, little lambs pockets, close pop in, bambino mio and some happy flute in the day. But he's 9m, and.not a heavy wetter so they last ages and it's easier to wrestle on a wriggler. Then a 2 part for night.

Chichz · 13/05/2020 23:23

Thanks @EverythingNow!

I'd definitely be up for mixing and matching but want to make sure I've at least got a starter kit. The bin/liners will come in handy whichever brands I add in later! X

@Abzs They reckon on the website that most don't ever need Size 3 - we will see!

Look at easy peasy nappies I had the birth to potty ones and they fitted from 10lbs until 98th centile 2.5 year old was potty trained. I bought the value ones and had them stuffed with bamboo then had more stuffing that nappies to allow for drying time. Plus the inners unfolded into flat sheets for faster drying.

They would be a good supplement to little lambs.

powershowerforanhour · 13/05/2020 23:47

I use little lambs bamboo at night but they are quite bulky, so Close Pop Ins during the day especially when getting more mobile. The Little Lambs fleece liners are really nice and soft and I got an extra set to use with the Pop Ins.

Chichz · 14/05/2020 07:58

Am hearing a lot about bulkiness - I guess that can make clothes a little tricky to fit, though I bet they look so cute!

Maybe I'll get the 10-pack bamboo then, then begin to supplement with others when baby gets out and about more.

Analysis paralysis! Grin

I definitely got analysis paralysis with this! I’m a first time mum, due in July. It seemed quite difficult to get a nappy that would fit from newborn for a decent length of time. Are you planning on using little lamb from day one? I kind of got stressed about it and resolved to use disposable nappies in the very early days or until they fit a size of reusable nappies that will last a while

RandomMess · 14/05/2020 08:55

Presumably you intend to use alongside disposables otherwise 10 won't be enough to use and wash and dry...

Maybelatte · 14/05/2020 09:21

You need at least 20 for full time cloth and that’s if you wash every other day with a newborn, they get through a lot of nappies for the first few months.

Chichz · 14/05/2020 09:24

I'm also a FTM @Itsnoteasyfeelingqueasy (as you may have guessed!) but am determined to use them - they seem so much better than disposables in so many ways!

And yep @RandomMess, I think I will have to use some disposables at the very beginning - I've got some anyway - until I decide which extra ones to buy. I'm reckoning 15-20 for a 2-day wash once I'm using them properly?

And thanks @Maybelatte - was typing something similar as you posted that I think!

OP posts:
Incontinencesucks · 14/05/2020 09:31

Disposables are really good for the mucous poos at the start. The black tar ones. We used overnight for a while too with one dc as they were smaller than the others and none of our brands worked well.

Superscientist · 14/05/2020 09:33

You can get vest extenders if the cloth nappies are too bulky under clothes.

Another FTM hoping to use cloth from birth. I'm intending on starting with muslin and wraps maybe with a few 2 part/pocket nappies in case my origami skills aren't up to scratch! I will be buying a pack of disposables too as back up whilst we get into a routine.

Incontinencesucks · 14/05/2020 09:33

And think about winter in terms of heated airer or dryer as they'll take a while to dry. We used the nappy ladies cleaning advice, as was using liquid at first but washing powder works far better.

Chichz · 14/05/2020 09:46

@Incontinencesucks Thank you. We do have a drier but it's pretty low-energy and we tend to finish things off in the airing cupboard, hence my original thoughts about using some cotton ones.

@Superscientist That is brave! I'm definitely not up to folding muslins as a nappy haha. People do say they're great for newborns though. X

Nippa fastening with a motherease air wrap are the most water right and bomb proof combination - 3 DC including a chunk child that did power wees and a very slim legged one can attest to that!

Chichz · 14/05/2020 10:59

Does the airwrap go over the bamboo or cotton nappy? X
