Hi so I'm only early pregnancy and I just wondered is everyone still going for thier shopping etc? I have no one else to go and husband still working etc... obviously with gloves mask etc or would you consider not safe with regards to covid? X

It’ll be safe as long as you’re quick and just grab the essentials. I’ve been trying to get orders delivered whenever I can

hoping2018 · 13/05/2020 21:01

I'm
Not going shopping..... spoke to Tesco and they put me on their vulnerable list and I get priority for deliveries.

Sunsage · 13/05/2020 21:14

I'm 23 weeks and still going to tesco for the groceries, I put my headphones in and take my time, hand sanitising as I go and dodging people who aren't keeping 2 metres away!

It's my trip out in the week and I enjoy it, as sad as that is lol

Temple29 · 13/05/2020 21:37

I’m 23 weeks and not going just to be as safe as possible. It’s probably fine but I don’t think see the point in risking it. My DH is working too so he goes once a week when he’s off.

Hatepickinganame · 13/05/2020 21:47

Im 10 weeks nearly and working in a supermarket daily. Just use the sanitiser offered and clean your trolley before you go in, stay 2m away from everyone and wash/sanitise your hands after. Dont touch your face while in the store just incase.

Birdy1991 · 13/05/2020 21:55

I’m 29 weeks and haven’t been since lockdown to be on the safe side. My partner doesn’t want me to go, so I drive him and wait in the car. Wouldn’t fancy it at the moment anyway, I’ve experienced a lot of people either not obeying the guidelines.

bluebell94 · 13/05/2020 22:04

I'm 13 weeks and have been shopping and going out to work in a public facing role. Though perhaps consider ditching the gloves, you're better just sanitising your hands when you get back to the car and washing when you get home.

Hatscats · 13/05/2020 22:29

I’ve been shopping when needed, seeing my horses, same as usual really apart from working from home and not socialising. Wash hands/sanitise when I remember!

jdy123 · 13/05/2020 22:36

I'm 28 weeks and been 'nipping' to the shop maybe once a week. I get my partner to do the big shop but my midwife said I am fine to go shopping myself. (won't be telling him that, mind lol)
I'm just being sensible, washing hands, sanitiser, going when it's not busy.
I think as long as you're sensible you'll be fine x

MooseBreath · 13/05/2020 22:41

I'm 37 weeks and have been going as I haven't been able to get a delivery slot despite being on the priority list. DH is working full-time and doesn't do the cooking, so if something we needed was unavailable, he wouldn't know what a decent substitution would be anyway. I just go quickly and make sure that I am always as far from other people as possible.

Emberfoot · 13/05/2020 23:24

I went today as poor hubs was getting overwhelmed doing it alone every week so I helped him out. One idea I'd say is try on your mask in advance. I didn't, put it on in the carpark, and promptly threw up. Thanks hormones.

BeMorePacific · 13/05/2020 23:27

We’ve been able to get a click and collect slot every week at Tesco. Try and log on at midnight and you tend to get a slot. There is pretty much no social interaction required xx

LexiM · 14/05/2020 07:17

I go once a weekend because my husband has anxiety and works full-time/extra hours. I just follow all the rules re hand washing etc. I also go later in the evening so rarely experience issues with anyone not following the 2m rule and arrows on the floor.

LexiM · 14/05/2020 07:17

*week

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 14/05/2020 07:26

My husband did it for weeks but the last 2 weeks I've started going with him because he was so clueless on the right things to get or substitute and it was doing my head in 😂 37+5. I wear a baggy jumper to try disguise the bump as I feel like I'll get judged. Not had any funny looks yet though so that's probably just my own anxiety Grin

MooChops89 · 14/05/2020 07:35

33+1 and I've been going shopping every week and also still working (although work have had me non patient facing so risk is minimised)

lamypye · 14/05/2020 10:57

Aww thanks everyone that's great xx

I went this morning for the first time - needed a bit of normality. I'm 24 weeks, it was lovely and calm but I certainly got some disapproving looks due to the bump... People were clearly not impressed! If I went again I'd hide it. Staff were fine and even opened up a till for me so I didn't have to queue (!)

Sunsage · 14/05/2020 11:48

Mrs87 that's so frustrating people need to keep their noses to themselves!!!

WhatWouldPennyDo · 14/05/2020 11:54

I’m not going. My husband is doing all of our shopping. We’re both working full time, our usual long hours, but from home. He goes once a week and whilst he’s out I do a thorough clean of the kitchen so when he’s back we can wash stuff and out it away together. Works for us.

Annabel28 · 14/05/2020 14:00

I'm 18 weeks and taking it in turns with husband to do the shop. To be honest, even if it was always my husband doing the shop we're hardly distancing as a couple (still share bed, cuddle etc.) So I suspect I'd catch whatever he does and vice versa. For that reason he's still working from home - he works in the City but wants to avoid train/tube etc. until baby safely here. For food shop we're just using normal precautions (2m distance, wash hands after etc.). We always used to get an online delivery as both busy professionals but haven't managed to get a slot since March.

Ethellsmum · 16/05/2020 22:53

I’m 31 weeks and pop to the shops if needed - we have a delivery every week and then hubby nips for bits we need but I do go too at times.
I always go when quiet and use hand sanitiser etc.

AhComeOnNow · 16/05/2020 23:03

I'm a teacher and working with two pregnant teachers. 14 and 20 weeks. They have between 10 and 15 children in their class daily. There is nothing in their risk assessments, government or medical advice to say they shouldn't be working at this stage.
