Growth Charts - Any Connection?

Hi ladies,

I know I'm overthinking this and should probably message the midwife if I'm worried, but wondered if anyone has any pearls of wisdom as I can't find an answer to this online:-

I had my 25 week appointment yesterday. I think my bump is pretty small, but I am fairly petite. Midwife was happy with it and everything else and said my fundal height measurement was good. When I looked at the chart after I'd left, it looks like it's plotted around the 15th-25th centile, which again would make sense based on my size!

Then I made the mistake of looking back to my 20-week scan charts, where they plot various lengths from the ultrasound - femur, tummy and head I think? The way these are plotted puts baby more at the 45th-50th centile on those charts!

As I said, midwife was happy but then I don't think she looked at my scan notes (different clinic). So, would we not expect a similar 'centile' for all growth measurements, even on different charts? Has anyone had anything similar?

Thanks from a confused FTM! Smile x

At my 20 week scan baby was measuring around 90th centile for most things and the head and abdominal ones were off the chart!! (which worried me!!) - since then I've had a 32 and a 36 week growth scans and measurements now just over the 50th centile for everything - I think baby just takes time to even itself out - but if you are worried don't hesitate to contact the midwife and just ask her to double check for you, maybe use the excuse as it's a different clinic you just wanted to check the way they plot the charts are the same, or something like that :)

Ultrasound measurements will almost always be different centiles to fundal height measurements - you’re comparing apples with oranges. If you’re petite and have less-than-average fat covering on your tummy then your fundal height measurement will be less than average also, even if your baby is exactly average sized. Wouldn’t worry at all - but if you’re concerned, ask your midwife.

Sorry ladies, posted a reply before and for some reason it hasn't appeared.

@NicNac100 That sounds reassuring! I will definitely contact her though, just in case she's missed those notes. Perfect 'excuse' as you say!

@TenThousandSpoons0 Makes sense 're. tummy fat. I was pretty slim for me when I fell pregnant and haven't gained many kgs yet.

Thanks for your replies Smile
