EDD from scan or last period

I'm just over a week away from my baby's estimated due date according to the dating scan, but a day away from when they worked it out using my last period. I'm going a bit stir crazy with lockdown and waiting for this baby to make an appearance so clearly overthinking everything!

Just curious, but which was more accurate for you - the scan or last period data?

I'm a FTM so not had baby yet but I know the scan date is meant to be far more accurate than the LMP as that is based on the actual measurements of the baby.

LMP is just an estimated guess before you have your scan and is based on the average woman having an average cycle of 28 days and ovulating exactly half way through the cycle on day 14.

Either way though, full term is classed as 38-42 weeks so it could be any day now for you. Best of luck!

The 12 week scan is also known as the dating scan. Why would the NHS go by the scan if it wasn't the most accurate method?

On average first babies are born at 40+5, in France the due date is actually 41 weeks, and I read recently that something like 70% of babies are born after their (40 week) due date.

The waiting is hard (I know, DS was born at 41+4) but you just have to sit tight and distract yourself as best you can. Not easy under lockdown, sadly!
