I would be interested in hearing this too? Also any thoughts on UCLH?

The Royal Free was great for me very recently. They were very understanding of the impacts of the current restrictions and I had a very positive experience.

That’s good to hear @Ers77 were you in the MLU or labour ward?

Ers77 · 14/05/2020 20:43

I was on the labour ward.

Labour ward is great but the postnatal ward where you will go for monitoring before you give birth and after baby is born is awful. The midwives and assistants are so uncaring it’s still haunting me today. I will choose a different hospital next time. If you are forced to go there I will give you some tips:

Take as much food and snacks as you can, ring the ward and ask what time meals are served before hand and book a visit.

If you have any pain etc and can’t move... don’t expect any help, make sure you bring your birth partner with you for help. They wouldn’t help me pick my baby up, give me water or food. I was just stuck there alone after my c section.

If you get any attitude from the staff take their name down and then write in to pals once you get home.

Labour ward was great and the theatre experience, totally professional. Probably because they have more staffing and care is one 2 one. I also have friends who have given birth there, trust me you would be shocked at what the staff are allowed to get away with, the ward manager is totally uncaring too, any issues please complain higher up. I’ve heard great things about UCLH.

Sorry you had a bad experience there.

There's no birth partners allowed on the post-natal ward at the moment, but I found that the staff were really helpful as they understand that we don't have our usual support available.

I agree on bringing lots of snacks and drinks in with you - invaluable when you're not very mobile. At the moment they were bringing meals until you were on your feet though Smile
