Hi sorry all, I'm sure this has been done time and time again.
But I need help!
I'm getting my hospital bag ready for when baby is born. I'm having a planned section in just a four weeks. This is baby number 4! Section number 2! I feel like I can't think straight about what I need. So far I have.
For baby:
Vest and baby grows
Nappies
Baby wipes
Muslins
Hat and cardigan
Shawl

For me:
Nighties
Toiltries
Slippers
Charger

I feel like I am missing so much please help!
Also any must haves that you think would make my time much easier.

My partner can't be with me at all this time! As he will have to have the children due to current situation.

Snacks. I'd also want headphones, an eye mask and a book or something to do that's not my phone.

Never had a section, but snacks was the biggest thing on my list for being in hospital longer than a few hours. (Was monitored for 24 hours after baby 2, and in for 24+ hours with baby 1 after a spinal for stitches etc)

Hi!! Congratulations that's not far away at all.
A few more things you could take could be

Dressing gown
Hair Brush
Snacks
Toothbrush/toothpaste
Face cream/wash
Pads
Underwear
Comfy clothes/joggers if you don't want to stay in pjs
Hair bobbles! Omg I won't forget these this time round lol

With my first I ended up staying in for 7 days!! And I was not prepared at all. If you'll be out asap you might not want to take some of these things x

For baby: cotton wool, my daughters bottom was very sensitive so baby wipes gave her a rash.
For you: Snacks, an electric hand fan (my ward was SO hot), lots of big pants, spare maternity bras (if breastfeeding), something to read/ a quiz book, headphones.
Good luck, I am sure you will be amazing!!

onetoomanybathtimes thank you, I've put a book in my bag.
What kind of snacks? I've always had DH be able to come and go, to get me anything I so desired when I've had the other children. I've only ever been in over night, with DD3 (my last section) I was home just over 24 hours after having her. They had me up and walking 2 hours after I came out of theatre!

chloe I sleep with a fan year round! So I don't own a dressing gown haha. I have a hair brush, shampoo, shower gel, tooth paste etc in my toiletries bag. pads! thank you!! My hair isn't long enough to tie up but good thinking!
Natalie I've got water wipes for hospital, ill be using cotton wool when I'm back home. A fan sounds like an amazing idea!! I've added 2 bras, to my bag how did I forget those! And breast pads.

I had: electrolyte drinks, biscuits (selection), Haribo, grapes, crisps, cocktail sausages, and probably a few other things but can't remember.

The biggest one for me was the biscuits and Haribo. I had Hyperemesis both pregnancies and xoudlnt stomach a lot of things, so I really wanted those to enjoy as soon as the sickness went.

But the grapes were nice to snack on especially if I had cold water to dunk them in first!

We were also lucky as the ward we were on had a kitchen we could use, and had yogurts, jelly etc to help ourselves to, as well as biscuits toast, fruit etc. It was a birth place ward though.

I'd take anything that doesn't need refrigeration too much, and something that you like a lot. You'd have just had a baby, you deserve a treat.

I've put ibuprofen in my bag as someone I. Hear had mebt8it before.
I'm having a planned section on Thursday!

Delbelleber · 10/05/2020 22:27

Oh ffs sorry about my terribly typed message. Someone on here had mentioned ibuprofen.

Delbelleber · 10/05/2020 22:29

I'm also going to to pack a little bottle of diluting juice for my hospital water!

ScrumptiousBears · 10/05/2020 22:47

Flip flops to wear In the shower.

JHKLHZHARH · 11/05/2020 10:48

onetoomanybathtimes I've added an empty water bottle so I can refill when needed, it's a thermos type one that keep the water cold. I've always got loads of fruit in so I'll make sure I add some to my bag as I leave (I'm starting a list of last minute additions lol) I'm not a big lover of biscuits but I've got some homemade flapjacks in the freezer I'll add them to the list because by the time I can eat they will have defrosted. I've had DD2 and DD3 at this hospital and they do have a kitchen of sorts, it has a small fridge, kettle and microwave. Breakfast is served in there in the morning! I've also added a jar of decaf vanilla coffee to my bag as its my favourite thing to drink.
delbelleber congratulations! I can't have NSAIDS as I have severe asthma, or morphine as I'm allergic to it. So it's paracetamol only for me. But I'll add some of that to my bag. I've added one of those squash on the go capsules to my bag too.
scrumptiousbears flip flops are an excellent idea! Why have I never taken them before.
