Heart jumps/kicks in chest occasionally?!

This is my second pregnancy.

Last pregnancy, I remember having a strong awareness of a thundering heartbeat when I lay down sometimes, which I learned are called heart palpitations. I never had any pain in my chest or anything, so I think they were within normal parameters and I learned to ignore them.

This pregnancy (15 weeks) I am also getting strange kicks and jumps from my heart sometimes - it’s very unnerving! It’s like my heart suddenly flips against my chest, sometimes two or three times, then immediately goes back to normal

Does anyone else get this?!

I had this, I thought it was anxiety but it turns out it was my thyroid! Mention it to your midwife for sure

I had this with my first. I mentioned it to midwife and she didn't think much of it and it went away once I had the baby. A Google suggests it's common in pregnancy.

@Rainbowchampagne

Ok that’s interesting, thank you - can you tell me any more, did you have to take drugs to fix it?

I had this and had thyroid problems.

Yes, I can’t remember what they’re called 🙈 I was told to stop taking them after I gave birth though and I’m waiting for another blood test to see if it was pregnancy related or if it will be ongoing! It did mean my pregnancy became consultant led, but not sure if that’s the case for everyone

I had palpitations when I became anaemic. They went away once my iron levels came up.

I had palpitations and was anaemic as well. I think it would be useful for you to at least have a blood test. I had to go to the triage bit in the hospital and they did a blood test and ecg.
