Hi All,
Got my first ever BFP yesterday after 15 long months. Over the moon but still feels like hasn’t sunk in!! I keep going back to my tests to look and see if it was real and that I just didn’t have a horrendous case of line eyes!
Sorry to bother you with what may seem like a stupid question, but I what do I need to do now?
I am looking to book a doctors appointment tomorrow and have a look at the NHS website in a moment for the pregnancy what to not eat etc...
But if someone would be able to help me, that would be fantastic! :) x

Hi, congrats!
You most likely won’t need an apppintment with the doctor. The majority of hospitals will have an online form that you complete and do as a self-referral. Google hospital name + maternity self referral or go on their maternity section of the website.

Next step is to contact your local
Community midwives to arrange a booking in appointment. You don’t need to see the GP (They don’t need to confirm your pregnancy, a positive hpt is enough) You can usually find their details online or by ringing your surgery. They will then arrange for an appointment for when you are around 8-12 weeks. Congratulations x

Congratulations!!!
Depending where you live you won't need a GP appointment, but call the GP surgery and the midwives will be in contact for a Booking In appointment with them when you're about 8 weeks.

You’ll probably need to self refer to your local midwife team by putting in your due date online and you’ll get a letter with your booking appointment, I actually also got a date for my dating scan through really quickly when I was about 6 weeks pregnant!
Start taking vitamins ASAP if you haven’t already, I’m taking the pregnacare max that’s what the doctor told me to take because it has omega 3 tablets too for the baby’s brain.

It's different in every area, here you ring your GP and they pass your name onto the midwife who then sends you a letter for your first booking in appointment. So either have a look on your local hospital website or give your GP a ring and ask them what you need to do.

Congratulations!!

Congratulations!

No GP appt in my area either. I rang up and was given a number for the midwife unit to self refer, which I did.
I didn't see anyone until my booking in appt at about 9 or 10 weeks

@SkylinesTurnstiles congratulations! 🥳
I'm just 4 weeks (got bfp 10dpo so already known a week) & called my local midwifery base today, they said to call back when between 6-7 weeks 😊

I called GP and they gave me the Midwife’s number, gave them my details and they sent me a letter for booking in appointment at about 8 weeks. Take folic acid and vitamin D as per NHS website, and then it’s just a case of waiting!
