Anyone else on pelvic rest?

Are you finding it impossibly hard like I am?

I've normally got a high sex drive but pregnancy sends it through the roof. I have a large SCH and, although the doctor didn't say anything about pelvic rest, it seems to be advised all over the Internet.
I'm going mad with frustration and keep bursting into tears as I'm finding it so hard.
I'm only 11 weeks tomorrow and hoping the SCH will have resolved itself by the time I have another scan on Monday. But chances are it won't have.

DP doesn't understand at all and just tells me it's a sacrifice I should have expected with pregnancy given our history of MMC.

Sometimes I really ache down there from not being able to release and it throbs and I have to put a cold flannel on it.

How do you get through it? If our baby survives the entire 9 months and the SCH doesn't resolve, I have no idea how I'll manage 😢

I realise this is highly trivial in the grand scheme of things and I am so so fortunate we've made it passed 9 weeks so far.
But it is making my last ever pregnancy a misery

I had a large bleed in first trimester and was told orgasms were okay. The doctor basically said nothing I do will make a difference either way so no sky diving but otherwise crack on (so to speak).

I've read nothing but absolute pelvic rest. That orgasms cause the uterus to contract which can dislodge the bleed. I've already had three very heavy bleeds with clots and I'm worried baby will come away with the next one. I'm just terrified we'll lose a 5th baby. That in itself should be enough to put me off .

Reading things on google is totally different to discussing things with your actual real life qualified doctor. What did the doctor say when you asked?

Hi @Frazzlerock, I too had bleeding throughout my first trimester - two huge bleeds with clots at 6 and 8 weeks, and the rest of the time it was lighter. I had two scans and they never found a reason for it.

One of my worst bleeds was after I had an orgasm (not penetrative) and it was enough to put me and DP off trying again the rest of the first trimester.

I am like you however with a high sex drive and find if I don't orgasm whilst awake after a while my body will just do it in my sleep 😂 I found that if I orgasmed stood up the bleeding was less/none existent (sorry if that's TMI) - maybe something to do with the weight/position of the womb laying down?

The doctors never said anything to me about no orgasms though and the same for my friend who had a diagnosed SCH. I thought strict pelvic test was just for placenta previa (sp)? The likelihood anyway is that the SCH will come away or be reabsorbed by your body, I doubt it would be there for the full 9 months and soon your baby will be much bigger than it anyway.

I'm going to ask the doctor on a Monday when I have my scan.

My first huge bleed was after I had two orgasms the evening before and morning of. I've also read a lot about bleeding being much worse after an O so that has really worried me. If baby came away with a big bleed after O I'd never forgive myself.
Since I've been on pelvic rest and sofa rest I've not bled for two weeks. Just seems like too much of a coincidence?

@GingerSunday now I'm tempted by the standing up trick but also terrified! I'll see what the doc says on Monday and just sit tight until then. With any luck (we REALLY need some luck) the SCH will have dispersed 🤞

Best of luck for the scan @Frazzlerock - maybe try to break it down into smaller waits - it isn't long until monday now and then you might find it is totally okay after that! I find it helps to see things in smaller steps instead of thinking "I can't do xyz forever!!!!".

Yes fingers crossed for Monday! Hopefully it has at least reduced so you know things are heading in the right direction ☺️
