I’ve just discovered I’m pregnant. I’m 42. I have three kids from my 20s and v early 30s.

I’m not a very robust 42. I have a bad back after two disc hernia operations. I have TVT surgery which involved mesh and my pelvic floor always aches. My knees often ache too. I do however exercise for an hour every day so I’m not unfit.

Please tell me how pregnancy treated you if you were old and not that healthy when it started. I’m terrified.

43 and 27 weeks here :) I definitely have a lot less energy with this one. I use the morning to get through some jobs around the house then afternoons just sitting in the garden planning dinner tbh! Congratulations Grin

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I was 37 when I had my second (and final) baby and I felt very achey and suffered with sciatica from my second trimester. I was under the care of an osteopath who specialised in pregnancy and if you're really uncomfortable and can afford it I really recommend that once this fucking lockdown is over you find someone you trust who can see you regularly to administer gentle treatment. I was often taped up to keep me from moving in ways I shouldn't and that helped, as did one of those long, curved pregnancy pillows that I used for resting and sleeping. Otherwise, keep hydrated, keep mobile, do pregnancy yoga/Pilates or other specialised gentle stretching exercise, walk, swim, whatever feels good but keep moving.

Thank you all. It’s good to hear from others in the same boat. I’m really quite terrified about how my body will cope. This wasn’t really part of the plan. I’m trying to embrace it as something that was just meant to be.

Good tips on keeping moving and hydrated.

Hi all. I've just had the surprise news I'm pregnant about 7 weeks. I'm 43, this is my second child. My daughter is 14. This time last year was heading for hospital for bowel surgery and had stoma formed. There was worries I had the dreaded big C. But all is well. So this is a bolt from the blue. My head is all over the place at the moment. Do I have what it takes to raise another child! Physically fairly fit and used to being kept busy. Glad to be here to share experiences x

I’m 41 and pregnant with my second, my LO is just 7 months.
I had awful morning sickness full on HG, and I spd. But I’m insane enough to do it again, so my answer is we either forget how awful it is or we just get through it.

I’m 42 and due in two weeks. It’s been nearly 12 years since my last baby.

I’m not going to lie, it’s been harder this time. I’m not very fit and also have back (2 discectomies) and neck issues. I’m more achey and tired. Although lockdown is shit, it’s been a bit of a blessing as I’ve been able to rest more - I would’ve struggled with work.
BUT, I’ve survived and can’t wait to meet my baby. 😍

Oh man, I’m with you! I’m 40 and 24 weeks.

My other two I was 22 and 33 - this pregnancy has knocked me for six. My hips and thighs ache in bed, I’m so tired and I just feel awful. So different to my other two.
