Swaddles for a newborn

Morning everyone,
I am due to give birth to my first baby in 9 weeks so “trying” to get a little organised.
I want to buy a couple of swaddles for use at night, perhaps two different types to see what works for us. Does anyone have a swaddle recommendation that has worked well for them and their newborn?
Thank you Smile

We used a cellular blanket until she grew into her grosnug (she was v small)

I bought three and she hated them so they were never used. I did research them a lot prior to the birth tho, and went with the groswaddle by the grocompany, really nice quality and pretty designs.

Don't spend too much; some babies love swaddling but others hate it! I used big muslins to swaddle my babies for the first month or so before moving to grobags. They are very useful for lots of other things too.

I used the merino kids ones for both of my children when they were babies, they are lovely and once you get the hang of it easy to use

I spent a load of money on fancy swaddle stuff for my son and he never used them, he just liked being wrapped up in blankets or Muslins. I've seen some advertised as "swaddle muslins" basically just big squares so I'll stick with that before they can go into baby sleeping bags x

I'd say buy a swaddle muslin blanket, especially if baby is a summer baby. Even if baby doesn't like being swaddled you can use it as a lightweight blanket or a muslin square/feeding shawl. I'd recommend Noa&Nani as they have some lovely designs and the fabric is always soft but you can often find various brands on eBay for a good price also.

Apologies that should read Aden&Anais*, Grin baby brain over here.

I've bought 1 of these to try after a recommendation from a friend.

In my day swaddling was a technique done with any suitable sheet, muslin or blanket. I had no idea it was now a product!

My grandmother called it 'wrap and rock' and said all tiny babies need to be swaddled (air temperature permitting) to feel secure after the confines of the womb.

I had lovely wise women in my family, help to nurture and feed naturally and as a result, none of my babies cried. I was very blessed with the help I received.

Thank you so much everyone, it sounds like everyone is generally thinking of the same sort of product :) that makes it really easy to buy. I will just buy a couple in case the little one does not like being swaddled.
@planningaheadtoday sounds really wonderful- what a lovely family, I shall remember and use the 'wrap and rock' too.
Thank you all again and have a lovely long weekend.
