Second pregnancy after a miscarriage and worried

Hi all.

I am 4w6d after having a missed miscarriage in jan. I am getting menstrual type cramps daily for about 9 days now. Although they aren't mild, they are more moderate than severe (which is also how I usually get them when I get my period). Is this normal? Had similar cramps last time and when they stopped I thought it was a good sign but dated back to around the time my miscarriage probably happened.

everything online says mild cramps can be usual. Can moderate also be okay? No bleeding (but I didn't have last time).

I also grt some sharp twinge pains near my hips, when I cough or move suddenly. Had a scan few days ago and it's too early to see much but did look like a possible gestational sac in my uterus and couldn't see evidence of ectopic.

I am so scared it's the same as last time so just want first hand experience whether this can be normal?

Thanks

Yes its totaly normal. I had a mmc in October and currently 12 weeks pregnant. I had period pain from about 3-5 weeks pregnant with this pregnancy, and also had the jabby type pains too.

Thanks so much for your response. So sorry to hear of your mmc. Such a horrible and difficult experience. Thank you for making me feel better!

I've had 2 losses and currently 9weeks. I noticed with all pregnancies, that in the early weeks, maybe week 4-6, I was getting strange pains. A pulling sensation, a twinge, sometimes a sharp knife like pain for a second, and sometimes more like a cramp, but not as rhythmic and regular as period cramps. I too was finding when I'd roll over in bed, cough, sneeze etc that I could 'feel it' in my uterus. Again, a strange feeling inside.

I've read that these twinges and pulls are completely normal, and due to the increased blood supply and hormones loosening the tendons and uterus in general. This pregnancy, I noticed these twinges stop about 6-7 weeks. I too thought it was a repeat of my previous MC, but a viability scan showed a heartbeat!

Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to prevent the MC, but sounds like the normal, strange aches and feelings I've had. Do you have another scan booked, or just the 12 week one?

Agree with PP that this sounds totally normal. Cramps and twinges are very common I think - as are the sharp jabs when coughing ( I had this throughout my whole pregnancy following a MC). Try not to worry - I know that it’s hard after a loss.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!

@eloura yes they are very bizarre pains. I just thought it was too early to be experiencing anything like that but thank you for letting me know I am not the only one. I am waiting on results tomorrow for my second hcg test so hopefully all looks good. I will have an earlier scan than 12 weeks as I know I am also high risk due to needing a cerclage too. Every step of the way will be nerve wracking I think.

@wingingitalltheway again, thanks for letting me know these can be normal pains! And thank you for the congratulations. So hard following a loss isn't it. Every. Little thing gets noticed.
