Pregnant after frozen embryo transfer

Was just wondering when people stopped taking estrogen and progesterone after their fet. I’m terrified to stop mine. They advised 12 weeks for me.

Here's my plan from my clinic. So I start tapering off at 10 weeks so by 12 weeks I'm off the IVF medication 😱

I'm scared.

ask your doctor on a precious pregnancy rather than Dr Pepper on Mumsnet

Thanks @brandnewhair very helpful

I stopped them at 12 weeks after my FET. Honestly don't worry, I think they give them to us for longer than we need.

I had fresh transfer and was told to stop at 8 weeks, but was told if I'd had FET you take it till 12 weeks. I'm unsure why, or if its to do with placental development, but if unsure, double check with your clinic.

I did, because everyone told me 12 weeks, but the clinic reassured that for fresh, its 8 FET its 12.

If your clinic has advised 12 weeks why wouldn't you do as they say?

Ooh, I know. Let's ignore the experts whose job is literally to maximise a healthy pregnancy and who have access to a wealth of accurate data and instead ask a load of complete randoms on the internet.

My first pregnancy was ivf and I stopped at 10 weeks. He's 15 months now!

I was gonna write out a big thing justifying my reasons but really I thought this forum was to help people and to give some reassurance during a scary time so I think I will just keep my reasoning to myself than to explain it to someone who clearly isn’t here for that.

Thank you to those who have shared their experiences, I really appreciate it x

12 weeks but they said that that was already very cautious and I could have stopped them earlier. I remember worrying about that a lot, though, so I know what you're going through! Everything went fine.

Piglet11 · 03/05/2020 21:35

Thanks @justtheonethen, I live 300 miles away from my fet clinic on an island who I have been signed off from to my local matty. They don’t know much at all about fertility issues and the clinic is closed south because of the covid. I have an appointment with the dr to ask if I can have my estrogen and progesterone levels tested before I stop completely as they were low before I started the process.

Wow OP, shocked at some of the responses you've had here - maybe I've got used to the kindness and support of the infertility board.

It's hard, especially at the moment. My NHS clinic had completely shut down so I can't speak to a soul, but even still - if we feel better by receiving reassurance from women in similar situations with a shared experience what's the problem?

Elouera · 03/05/2020 21:57

@Piglet11- You don't need to justify your reasoning for asking, there are just some awful people about who clearly don't understand! I asked the exact same thing on here last week, after my clinic had shut and had skeleton staff only that weren't answering the phones. I was given no guidance on when to stop cyclogest at all or when to start aspirin!

walkingchuckydoll · 03/05/2020 23:01

I stopped at 12 but was terrified as well. The clinic then told me that it was actually only really necessary till 8 for a FET but they did 12 for just in case because too long doesn't matter but too short does. I had some extra so took a few days to wind the dose down instead of stopping altogether. That just felt more natural to me.

RenegadeMrs · 03/05/2020 23:07

12 weeks here too. And boy was I ready to give up.thr progesterone suppositories! I'm now 31 weeks pregnant after my FET. Good luck with your pregnancy x

resipsa · 03/05/2020 23:14

I stopped at 6 weeks as I had bled heavily and assumed a miscarriage (had had 3 by then so clued up!). I was wrong. She'll be 5 in July. You'll be fine at 12 weeks 😁.
