I’m currently 16+2 and I as far as I’m aware this vaccine is available from 16 weeks, I’m wondering if anyone has had one recently? Did you just call the GP to book it in? Are they still vaccinating at this time?
Thank you Smile

My midwife said you get if at your 20 week scan appointment

ChampooPapi · 01/05/2020 09:17

*get it

chocolate26 · 01/05/2020 09:22

I got mine at 30 weeks 3 weeks ago now at my doctors surgery. They are still going ahead and the nurse had full PPE on, I felt very safe 😊

Chichz · 01/05/2020 09:23

Hi @Prettylittlelady.

I called my GP surgery at around 21 weeks and the doctor arranged for me to come in to have it. I think they take the vaccinations pretty seriously Smile.

As you're yet to have your 20-week scan though, you could ring your hospital/clinic and check whether they're doing it at the same time, as PP said. Mine didn't offer it!

VLH2000 · 01/05/2020 09:42

I'm also 16+ 2 and have just arranged mine with my GP for next week.

Em91 · 01/05/2020 09:49

I had mine yesterday and I'm 24+3, they are still doing vaccinations and being very efficient I got sent out as soon as she's had given it to me so they get you in and out ASAP Smile

GAW19 · 01/05/2020 09:53

I believe I had mine at the hospital when I had my 20 week scan Smile

Chanel05 · 01/05/2020 09:57

I had mine at the hospital straight after my 20 week scan.

otterbaby · 01/05/2020 09:58

Had my 16 week appt yesterday and she told me to ring the GP and book it in, so mine is booked in for Monday when I'll be 18 weeks.

KnobwithaK · 01/05/2020 10:01

At my hospital there was a walk in service at the maternity unit and you could go anytime after 20 weeks (I went directly after the scan). I'd call the midwife first and check with her what the process then call the GP if necessary.

BlingLoving · 01/05/2020 10:05

Interesting to see most people having it around 20 weeks. I seem to recall that with DD they told me it had to be closer to the birth so I think I had it at something like 32 weeks. Have they improved it? But yes OP, I'm certain your surgery will still be offering this as a priority.

Nicalo2019 · 01/05/2020 10:35

I have my 20 week scan this morning and having the vaccine after it

Connie222 · 01/05/2020 10:41

My hospital do them. I had to have a rescan at 22 weeks on wed and I asked for it afterwards. Currently feel like I’ve been hit in the arm with a metal bat!

Connie222 · 01/05/2020 10:42

@BlingLoving I was told it takes 4 weeks to cross the placenta so they like to do it before 32 weeks just incase.

Chichz · 01/05/2020 10:47

@Connie222, gosh yes - I had mine just over 2 weeks ago and the bruise is only just disappearing!

April1990 · 01/05/2020 10:49

I had mine last week at 22 weeks (20 week scan). I'm absolutely petrified of injections but didn't even feel it! Bit of an achey arm that evening but apart from that all good Smile

Connie222 · 01/05/2020 11:13

@Chiczh I’ve got no bruise yet, just a huge lump under the skin! It’s so sore and hot. I had a shower this morning and I was in agony washing myself.

I had a goggle and apparently it’s the tetanus element of the vaccination that causes it.

I didn’t have it in my last two pregnancies, one was before the vaccine was used in pregnancy and the other was right at the start of them using it so I didn’t have it.

BlingLoving · 01/05/2020 11:15

@connie22 interesting. Maybe I was at the tail end of the process. Not really important now (5 years later) but I'm always interested in how these things adapt. I wasn't offered it with DS 10 year ago as it hadn't become standard yet.

Connie222 · 01/05/2020 11:19

@Blingloving I wasn’t offered it in my last pregnancy in 2013 either.

I always take what I’m told with a pinch of salt though, I find it varied from health professional to health professional sometimes.

Jem9153 · 01/05/2020 11:23

I just had mine yesterday at 25 weeks but my midwife rang me to tell me to book it any time from 20 weeks onward :)

I just called my GP to book x

sel2223 · 01/05/2020 11:35

My midwife said I'll get it at my 28 week appointment.

Chichz · 01/05/2020 11:41

Oooh good research, @Connie222! My doctor explained about all the other things in the vaccine just before he jabbed me in the arm, haha.

justtheonethen · 01/05/2020 11:49

Had mine yesterday at my gp surgery. You may want to wait a bit so you don't have to go in, ideally should be done by 30 weeks but can be done up to birth .

Prettylittlelady · 01/05/2020 12:05

Thanks for all the responses, in the little booklet that I was given at my booking appointment it said that to book it in from 16 weeks but now people have mentioned it I’m sure I heard women being offered it when I went for my 12 week scan so perhaps I’ll get offered it when I go in a few weeks for my next one. I thought it had to be done at a certain time (FTM here! & a massive worrier) so seeing it can be done later has reassured me! Thank you ladies X

I got it when I went for my flu jab. They said we're giving you this too because you're pregnant. Otherwise I wouldn't have known to get it. I was 16 weeks
