How can I get my baby to move?

Anyone got any good tips? My baby's been very quiet today and I really want to feel some action to reassure me! I've tried putting my feet up and relaxing which usually does the trick, but so far nothing. Anyone got any good suggestions? I'm 24 weeks. Thank you.

Drink a lot of cold water!

I heard that if you had something to eat or some warm milk and then laid down flat, it wouldn't take long for a few jabs!!

cold drink, tap on your bump, when i used to tap, dd would tap back

sometimes they can go quiet inside when they're having a growth spurt

hot drink then cold drink.

a bit of moving about yourself.

quiet time, lie downa dn read and see if baby moves.

how much has baby moved today? do you have a patetrn for babys moves? could you have been busy and not registered baby moving?

if you are worried and tried the tips above contact your fetal assessment unit at the hospital for reassurance.

While having a CTG to monitor baby in the assessment unit, he was a bit quiet, so I was told by midwife to drink ice cold water and lie on my left-side - baby went absolutely crazy pretty soon afterwards!!

Not much help tonight - but we were given one of those "listen to baby's heartbeat" things that you strap around your bump and listen in with headphones. Cost about £30 from Mothercare. I used to regularly put it on when worried that baby hadn't moved much that day. It was very reassuring to hear the heartbeat. Our older 2 loved putting it on me too and listening in to their baby to be.

I always found the babes moved around when I tried to lie down in the bath. Also remember the scan lady telling me to go and eat something (a banana) and come back for scan as DD1 was in wrong position at 20 week scan and she could not finish the scan. As they get bigger the movements change from being moves to kicks and stretches - it could be that there is less room to move around in there than there was last week. That's when your tummy starts to look like something out of Alien and you start to see feet and elbows pushing out! DD1 used to push her feet out for a rub!

If you are at all worried give your midwife team a call - there should be a number in your notes - they will be able to advise you. Hope all is well.

hot drink followed straight away with a really cold glass of water. when my bump wasnt so big (38+2 at the mo) i used to go on all 4 and shake my bum! not the most sttractive, but my midwife asured me it would get junior moving and i did!! i did have a day when baby was unusually quiet so went up to the hospital an the heartbeat monitor 4 20mins really put my mind at ease hearing it! xx

lie in the bath after a can of coke, they move more when your relaxed and the caffine and sugar gets them going.
