Spritz for Bitz is it worth it?

There is a lot of hype around it but for £20 for a bottle if it actually worth buying it would you recommend cheaper alternatives?

I’ve bought it. Reviews were v good. I’ve just bought some oils to make up my own massage oils / mixtures etc, but had bought this beforehand - probably also safer to use down there than anything I’d make!!

I got it, sprayed it on once, didn't find it remotely helpful and couldn't be arsed with it after that. So for me it was a massive waste of money.

I found Tucks pads really helpful, though.

It got such amazing reviews I have bought it and it's currently packed in my hospital bag - can't review it yet myself though - I also bought a little travel bidet thing as a few friends have said if you are very sore or had an episotomy or stitches etc. it's better to pour warm water on you whilst you pee rather than using toilet paper (I'm a sucker i'll buy anything haha)

It sounds like yet another product that expectant mothers are tempted to waste their money on!

Mmsnet101 · 30/04/2020 09:21

It's a con. I don't normally fall for these things but hormones/constant fb marketing and labour anxiety made me spend £75 on the full set.

The spritz smells horrendous and is useless. Didn't work for me in terms of any pain relief and my stitches still got infected. Warm water in a spray bottle for after toilet and then keep as dry and air your bits as much as possible.

I liked it! First time round I spent a lot of time sat in a bucket 😅 so this was a lot more convenient. Sure you could probably make up your own. But for the simplicity, I got this, and it was definitely cooling and i spritzed clean pads too which was soothing.

I probably used up half the bottle before I didn’t need it anymore. I’d use it if I gave birth again, for sure.

LividLaughLovely · 30/04/2020 09:31

I had a section after five days of failed induction.

The induction made my bits swell up and be sore, and I got to use the Spritz for maybe 48hrs before the section which was really soothing even though the baby wasn’t out yet!

Nobody told me induction drugs can give you a swollen fanny 😅

I really liked it. Ended up having a c-section and sprayed it on my scar a few times a day, it felt blissful!!!

Fefifoefum · 30/04/2020 09:39

I got given a bottle, it was ok.
BUT what gave me the beat relief was some aloe Vera gel, spread onto maternity pads and popped in the freezer. BLISS!
Do that!

MrsCl19 · 30/04/2020 10:38

I didn't really use anything after dd but I'd had an episiotomy.

I'm think general opinion is it's not worth the money

@Fefifoefum I have heard that a lot!

May just try some more natural thing- not due for ages with number 2 but the recovery was was worse than the birth 🤣

I never tried it but had to have lots of stitches and to be honest it was nowhere near as sore as I was expecting! I was dreading going to the toilet for the first time, i had water bottles on hand to squirt at my bits etc like I'd read about but honestly didn't need any of it. The only time i struggled a bit was when my stitches were healing they became really itchy, and i put witch hazel gel on a maternity pad and it worked wonders!

LunaNova · 30/04/2020 11:19

I had it and found it really soothing, particularly when I sprayed it on pads in the beginning and later on when the itching started as my stitches healed. There were times when I forgot to spray it on and I definitely noticed a difference.

I guess it depends on the individual whether it helps or not!

I used probably half the bottle before not needing it anymore :) and I was quite liberal when spraying it so it's a shame they don't do a smaller bottle!
