Baby Nests for naptime

Hi

Have been looking at baby nests (Sleepyhead deluxe and the like) for baby 2. I just want something safe for them to sleep in downstairs during the day, without having to cart the Moses basket up and down.

However I’ve read that they are considered unsafe/SIDS risk and just wondered if anyone has heard this too?

From what I understand it’s thought they could possibly cause overheating or increase the risk of suffocation as there is material near the baby’s head.

I don’t think they have been proven to be dangerous but equally not proven to be safe.

Some people view them as safer than unplanned cosleeping (eg if baby won’t be put down any other way and parents accidentally fall asleep holding otherwise)

Some people use for supervised daytime naps but not at night

Some people don’t use at all

I think it depends on your appetite for risk.
Personally I have a purflo nest (similar to sleepyhead but cheaper) which I’m planning to use in the day / when I’m awake but not at night but I can understand why people may want to be more cautious than me.

Just have a Moses basket on the ground floor as well as upstairs. You can get a lovely one second hand for £10 on fb market place and a new mattress on amazon is £15.

Much better than risking it with a sleepyhead

I have the babyhug from chicco, crib, bouncer, high chair and toddler seat all in one xx

We’ve got a sleepyhead for downstairs supervised daytime naps. I feel it’s safer than potentially falling off the sofa or being trampled by his older brother

Sleepyhead is absolutely fantastic for daytime naps and you can just carry it around wherever you are. 100% worth it.

I used a bouncy chair for naps, ds was a nosy baby & liked to be able to see what was going on around him, he was happy to nap in his chair which was fairly flat.

@Willow4987 that’s exactly why I was thinking of getting one as I have a 2 year old as well x

Yeah it’s good for that and also if we visit anyone (obvs not at the moment) he’s got somewhere to sleep if he wasn’t being held
