Hi mums and mums to be.
I'm currently 9 weeks and just before i entered week 9 all my pregnancy symptoms have disappeared.
I am still emotional and tired but i no longer feel nauseous.
I have been getting dull pains in my lower stomach, but i just don't know if i should be worried or not. I'm not sure if this is normal? This is my first pregnancy and i'm worrying something has happened. Do you think i should call the midwife?

The placenta kicks in at between 8-12 weeks. This can lessen “symptoms” for most women and is absolutely normal. However if you’re worried then phone your midwife, but it sounds normal to me.

First - dont panic. The average peek of symptoms may be 9 weeks... but that can be earlirr or later for some

Secondly - this is a job for an early pregnancy unit - EPU. You are too early for a midwife really .

Call you local epu and see what the rules are. I imagine in these times you will need a referal ect.

They may well not see you just becausr of lack of symptoms but may if you are having stomach pains too.

Don’t stress OP it’s normal for symptoms to ease at this point.

All my symptoms (of which I didn't have many) disappeared at nine weeks. Totally normal.

Thanks for coming back to me.
You have put my mind at ease to hear its common. I do already have a midwife so i was going to call her but don't want to bother anyone unnecessarily.

Completely normal, you can speak to your midwife but she will just tell you exactly the same thing! I hated the early stages of pregnancy as everything is just so worrying isnt it.

NishaaS123 · 27/04/2020 11:58

Dont worry about it to much when I was around 9-10 weeks my symptoms disappeared for a week and then came back the next lol and it continued like this till 16 weeks and then I had no symptoms so it happens it's normal

Williams3001 · 27/04/2020 16:54

Don't worry about wasting your midwife's time; this is exactly why you have their number. Most would much prefer you called to be reassured/find out everything is fine than feel like you can't ring if there was a problem. They may be busier than normal but generally they are happy to help.

USER18888 · 28/04/2020 08:44

its just the unknown that makes it so worrying.
i have two weeks until my scan and i'm already looking for slots for a private scan between that time!
I suppose i'll just take the time to enjoy feeling fine!

@user18888 my symptoms disappeared at 6 weeks and never returned. Apart from cramping at 10 weeks, the odd bout of indigestion now and again. It’s normal for them to fluctuate, and for some people to have none or lots. I’m 15weeks now.

If your worried call your midwife they are there to support you.

As for another scan, book it if you feel it will help, it is great to see the baby. But from experience it’s short term reassurance, and you go back to worrying again. Anxiety is common in pregnancy, don’t worry your not alone.

This time round my symptoms defo improves around late 8 weeks/early 9'weeks, still kinda there in the back ground but so much better. If you look at hcg levels they tend to peak around 9'weeks and then reduce off so this is probably why we can feel better around this time and as someone else said the placenta starts to take over. Try not to worry Smile

My symptoms disappeared about 9 weeks, they seemed to return about 11/12 weeks though. 25 weeks now so was all ok for me. Good luck OP.

USER18888 · 28/04/2020 13:53

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to reassure me on this. It has helped me massively to try and relax a little bit more.
@DressingGown87 with regards to a scan, i suppose you're right. I'll only continue to worry until my next one.
They worry you so much before they are even born!
