Trying to catch my breath

So for the past week or so when trying to sleep at night, I feel as though I'm trying to catch my breath. It almost feels like I've ran up the stairs too fast.

I could understand this happening later on in pregnancy but I'm only 11 weeks. It's harder to breath through my nose and so I have to breath with my mouth open. Has anyone else experienced this early on in pregnancy?

Didn't want to read and run OP.
I haven't experienced this myself but I'd give your midwife a call to let her know and see what she says.
Better to be in the safe side.

Call your midwife.

Was expecting you to say you're nearly due, in which case I would say sounds normal.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 26/04/2020 16:45

I think this is totally normal - it surprised me in my first pregnancy. Think there's an entry on it in my what to expect book, not sure...going to go away and look it up. I'm only 8 weeks pregnant now with my second but the stuffy nose thing is definitely a pregnancy symptom.

Please contact your midwife tomorrow. This is probably nothing but breathlessness can be caused by a genetic variation in your blood. A friend did not know she had it until pregnant, it was successfully managed throughout her pregnancy. Best to get it checked out.

I had this too, I think it was hormones and extra blood flow. It scared me and they did an ECG heart monitor and it was all normal.
Other thing could be anemia.
Definitely see GP or midwife but try not to worry. I didn’t have it 24/7 just for random periods of time

Anaemia perhaps

onetime10 · 26/04/2020 17:04

Thanks everyone, I'll give my gp a call tomorrow and see what she thinks. I have no cold or stuffy nose, I don't have allergies either so I am a little worried.

I’ve had this a bit but pretty sure it is anxiety as feeling quite panicky generally. Worth a chat with your midwife :)

HeyDuggeewhatchadoin · 26/04/2020 18:19

As PP said, I had it and was anaemic.

Any news OP?
