Early pregnancy cramps, help!

Hi,

I'm 5 weeks, 2 days and this is my first baby. Last Friday I started getting absolutely awful cramping, much like quite bad period pains, only happening at night but it happened 3-4 times during the night (I'm also knackered by this point!). I rang midwife and they've arranged a scan next Friday and said to take paracetamol which I have been doing, however I'm getting these cramps 7-8 times during a 24 hour period and if I'm honest I'm
In agony when it happens and I don't know how much longer I can cope with it!

Putting a hot water bottle on it eases it within 5 minutes, so does a hot bath, but both these things take time to do (my amazing boyfriend has been on hot water bottle duty throughout the night but he's tired now too :( ) and aren't the best at 3am, does anyone have any other advice? Has anyone else experienced it this bad? And how long does this tend to last?

I don't want to bother the hospital with the covid-19 situation being ongoing and i don't know if I'm just being a bit of a wuss when I do have these pains but I honestly want to cry when it comes on now and I'm really not enjoying being pregnant at the moment, and would rather have any other symptom than this pain! Paracetamol doesn't really touch it from what I've worked out! I'm at my wits end now and need some positive news or something to help me because i can't cope anymore!

Thankyou

Posting from my own personal experience, I was like this around 7 weeks and was crippled over in pain. The pain came in waves and I felt like I was being stabbed, it was horrible!
I ended up in A&E as I just didn't know what was happening and was terrified something was really wrong.
A&E didn't do much and sent me home at 1am in the morning and the EPU saw me the next day for a scan.
Thankfully everything was ok.
The cause of my pain was due to a functioning cyst, which forms after you have ovulated and conceived (there is some fancy name for it but I don't know what it is 😝).
It is good that you have this as it produces the proper amount of hormones for a healthy pregnancy. Most women don't have any problems with it, but like me, I was one of the unlucky ones!
Thankfully after a couple of weeks it went away, but I still had 'growing pains' and ligament pain, which is common with a growing belly!
If you're not bleeding then fingers crossed it's nothing serious for you, but at least you are having a scan to put your mind at rest!
I hope everything goes ok for you 🤞❤️

Thankyou so much that makes me feel a lot better! It's honestly agony when it does happen and it's so painful I feel like I'm going to be sick, thankfully it isn't all the time because if it was I'd honestly lose it! I've got no bleeding and the pain isn't one sided or anything it's literally like the worst period pain I've had but obviously unlike period pain it doesn't cramp for 30 seconds then go away, it's constant until I get a hot water bottle on it. Midwife didn't seem concerned about it and when I first felt it I panicked but it obviously does ease and go away for a period of time!
Honestly thought being pregnant would be nicer than this haha! Ive already waited nearly a week for the scan, this next week is going to be a long wait too Confused

I'm 18 weeks now and the round ligament pain I'm getting now, is fun! 😬 It's not debilitating or anything, just more annoying.
I was super fortunate with my first trimester, as other than that blip I was fine. No sickness, nothing! I literally breezed through!
So far so good with the second trimester too.
It's sounds positive that the pain comes and goes with you. It sounds like your muscles are expanding and contracting, but I'm no expert, again, just going off personal experience.
If you do get super worried, call your midwife again, or just go to A&E and ask for a scan.
The most positive thing is that you're not bleeding!
Hope you feel better soon ❤️❤️❤️

I’m 8 weeks and had similar cramps and pain with this pregnancy and last pregnancy! This pregnancy I’m lucky that I’m getting regular scans and so far so good, heartbeat on 6 week and growing at right rate on 8 week, your uterus stretches loads even during the first 8 weeks which can cause cramping and also a cyst forms from the follicle which released the egg which can cause pain too!

When I was 6 weeks pregnant I had a whole day of horrendous cramping, it was so bad that I took paracetamol and had a hot water bottle. It was awful but it never came back and I'm now 33 weeks pregnant so I figure my body was just preparing. x

Ive had the same too, from around 6 weeks, I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow. Mine come & go, although paracetamol does help mine I've avoided taking them as the pain does seem to ease by itself within 15-20 mins for me anyway. My midwife wasn't concerned, said it's very normal.
