Does anyone have any experience of a c section and a next 2 me crib? Hadn’t really thought about it until this morning, and now suddenly wondering if I will be able to get into bed!! X

My advice, having had two c sections, is to put the next to me on the other side of the bed for the first week (assuming you have a partner) - they can pass baby when they need feeding. I attached the crib to my side of the bed the first time and it was so difficult to get out of bed! Second time I put it on my husbands side for a week and it was great - I could roll over and swing my legs out no problem!

I have avoided a bedside cot due to this. I have a small bedside table which I would want to keep for lamp, water, glasses, essentials, so I would have to virtually get in and out at the bottom of bed.

A few friends said they had same issue, and had to put on husbands side the first 6-8 weeks, which was when it would have been most useful if breastfeeding.

We have bought a cot, its against wall at bottom of bed. Figured that way dh or i can equally get up and down to baby, and equally in and out of our own bed.

I didn't find it an issue but our Next to Me is halfway down the bed so I could get out around it. I wouldn't have wanted it on the other side of the bed because then it would have been more awkward to pick baby up.

I had a snuzpod (I.e. same sort of thing) and a c section. Does it stand alone also? For first few weeks we didn't attach to bed but used as a stand alone unit near bed instead. Or as others suggest put on other side of bed instead.

We had a next2me & it was great after the first couple of weeks. The first week or so it was a struggle to get in & out of bed, so I couldn't have it right next to me. I would say
to put it further down the bed so you are able to get out of bed easier. To be honest we slept downstairs for a the first few days, as I found it easier to sleep in an upright position & the next to me came downstairs with us.

Yes, I found it really tricky- the suggestion about putting it on the other side is a good one. Or I was wondering about just sleeping in a single for a week or two (we have space in our bedroom, just about!) so I could easily get in and out and bf baby!

Slight bum shuffle to get higher up to my pillows but was perfectly manageable for me, you will be ok!

I had 2 c sections and found the next to me impossible to work with.
The sideways action of lifting the baby from the side up onto your chest hurt was so painful.
Also obviously getting into and out of bed was very difficult for multiple nappy changes in the nighte.t.c

In the end I disconnected it and used it as a separate Moses basket!

I've found that my newborns didn't like the next to me until they were a bit bigger (too big and vast) so I use a moses basket for the first couple of weeks or so. By the time we've attached the next to me, I'm healed enough to climb into bed.

We put the crib on my husband's side.
