Hello all!

I’m currently in hospital in labour. My waters broke around 7am this morning, contractions have been around 50ish seconds every 3-4 minutes and definitely painful - alas, I am only 1cm dilated. I’m having to be separated from my partner through all of this fabulousness due to the pandemic and I’m lacking words of encouragement to get me through these painful, frequent contractions with little momentum! Any similar stories would be welcomed to push me to that light at the end of the tunnel lSmile

Yay baby on the way! You can do it, follow your instincts and don't forget the magic of pain relief. Hopefully things speed up for you too Smile

Someone will be along with something more useful to say as my only experience is a planned c section I'm afraid.

But I just wanted to say good luck, you got this, and there is light at the end of the tunnel! You'll have your baby soon Flowers

Good luck! Not sure this will be any help but I wish I had been separated from my husband when I gave birth as he was flipping useless! Grin

In all seriousness, the midwives will take good care of you, and you won't feel alone. Can you use an iPad or similar so you can still talk / see / listen to your partner?

A baby - how exciting. Lots of lovely snuggles coming soon

Well, your not far off meeting your lovely baby so it's a exciting time! Try to walk about. Leave the room and wonder about. Probably not a good idea in a pandemic but I walked everywhere in the hospital. Al via the stairs. If you cant leave the wards then just slowly pace around the rooms finding where the tea machine and quite feeding room etc is. The pressure will help you dilate. Also rest inbetween as labour can be exhausting. I was induced with my first so active labour was 1.5 hours but then two hours of pushing ( baby was back to back so it shouldn't have been so long)

Exciting!

Congratulations!

I’m due tomorrow so hoping to go tonight!

I was completely alone for dd2s birth and she beat the midwife and dp was making a coffee 🙄
I know you’ve been there a long time and it stretches out BUT because you’ve been there so long then you’re so far into your journey already! Those contractions are done and out the way as the next one will be soon.

You can do this and you ARE doing this and he’ll be with you soon!

Gerdticker · 22/04/2020 19:15

Sometimes you can dilate faster than expected - I think I went from 4cm-birth in 2 hours so you never know!

Do try and walk or go on the birthing ball as much as you possibly can

You are amazing! We’re with you!

You got this! X

Try and stay active hun and on ur feet or the birthing ball...gravity helps...yes don't forget to ask for pain relief and I didn't get offered any only gas and air...good luck u can do it xx

Hopefully it will move quickly! In case it doesn't (I had two very long labours Hmm), if you want pain relief I would ask for codeine. I was given oramorph in the early stages of both my labours, did nothing. Codeine was great, I was actually able to sleep for a bit! Wishing you all the very best Flowers
