Nesting

Is anyone having trouble with nesting? I was supposed to be moving house into a much bigger spacious home but due to the corona virus we have had to put it on hold until all this has blown over. I don’t feel like I have enough space to put everything where I want too. There’s no point decorating if we are due to move but I’m really got the urge to make things perfect for my little girls arrival, I haven’t even got the room to put her wardrobe up I’ve only just managed to get her changing unit in it which luckily has 3 spacious drawers. I just feel unsettled, anyone in the same boat?

I think it really depends on how soon you're supposed to give birth. If it's impending, allow yourself an essential baby corner in your current dwelling and that corner should can be as decorated as you like. Make do with what the situation allows. Best of luck!

I have done a fair old bit of cleaning so I'm quite happy with that.... My problem is my baby's bedroom was/is being used as a washing room so there is always clothes horses in there with clothes drying and also some tins of paint and other painting materials that I've got no where to put them. So I can't properly make it a baby's bedroom yet. I've got all his stuff in there also but it's all covered up so the cats don't get in to it!

I'm in a similar situation, we were due to extend into our loft and due to the virus we haven't even started. Baby has no room, everything is spread
Out across my house.
However babies should be with you in your room for the first 6 months to help reduce SID so baby won't need his room just yet plus I'm sure he wouldn't know where he was anyway :-)
I get your frustration though, things aren't exactly how I dreamed.
xx

We were meant to move too. Currently in a one bedroom flat, so we're having to majorly improvise!

PAJJ · 22/04/2020 20:01

Same here! Were due to move - saying that, we have until July so hopeful it might still be ok.

Agree with @Sunshine8920 it's not the end of the world as she'll be in the room with us anyway for a while, it's just frustrating having this time in lockdown and not being able to 'sort' things!

@anniebu @Delbelleber @Sunshine8920 @Mucklowe thankyou for the replies guys, it’s made me feel a lot better that people are in similar situations, best of luck to you all

Yes and I'm not even due until September! Our house sale is on hold, I was hoping we would be in our new place by June so we could do some structural work and decorating. Now I'm hoping to be in my August and if we can give it a lick of paint and new carpets I'll be happy

triedandtestedteacher · 22/04/2020 21:34

They don't go in their room for 6 months anyway, longer if they're anything like mine. I decorated my dds room and she literally never went in it until she was nearly 2 by which time I wanted redecorate it again with things she was interested in. Just make yourself a little corner and try not to stress

Nfblues · 22/04/2020 23:56

I’m in the same situation, we were in the middle of a house purchase and were hoping to move in before baby is due in August or at least in the first few months. Obviously it’s all now on hold and we don’t really know what’s happening with it. Our current place is rented and we don’t have a spare room for baby so I haven’t been able to prepare anything and I can’t really be bothered as it’s not permanentSad I’ve had lots of nesting urges though lol so I’ve been busy decluttering my clothes and general bits and bobs which has made me feel better. I’ve even managed to re-shuffle our small bedroom around to make space for a bedside crib which is a bit reassuring.

Blak · 23/04/2020 11:38

@Nfblues aw fingers crossed that everything has blown over by then and you will be in a new home, my baby is due in June so really not long now, just trying to make the best out of a bad situation as I know exactly how I want things in my head.

My baby is also due in June and I’m really struggling with not being able to do her room! We had carpet booked to be fitted the day after lockdown was announced so can’t build any furniture etc because it won’t come back out of the room. I know she won’t be in there but it’s just being able to see all of her things and get organised! I completely get how you feel!

We carpeted the spare room, bought some new drawers, moved DD into a bed so her cot bed could come in....now the spare room is an office for the foreseeable and new baby due any day. It's not a big deal as others have said, but there's something so lovely about getting the nursery all set up...not so lovely when there's now a desk in there and DH doesn't want to do his work Zoom calls with a changing mat and stack of nappies in the background.
