Misoprostol for retained products?

So sorry if this upsets anyone.

I had medical termination of pregnancy 5 weeks, I bled a lot and didn't pass the pregnancy til 3 days later, by that point I'd lost that much blood I ended up needing 2 blood transfusions. I've now still got a positive pregnancy test so I had a scan. The scan showed retained product so I have to go back in tomorrow for more misoprostol as they can't do surgery due to Coronavirus.

I have a 7 month old baby and they said because of the bleed last time this time I have to stay in hospital.

I am so upset I had such a traumatic time last time with it, during the day I was passing out constantly and passing huge clots and so much blood. Wondering if anyone has any similar experience? Is it any easier when it's for retained product as opposed to the initial thing?

I'm so scared :(

Oh you poor thing. I’m sorry, I’ve only experienced miso for terminations at later gestations, not retained products, so don’t know about this. I just wanted to say that I hope it goes well for you. It sounds like it’s been really traumatic.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I also had retained products after a medical termination. I know they don't want to do surgery right now but honestly after what you've been through with the blood transfusions I think pushing for an MVA or D&C would be safer. You can speak to PALS if you need support - there is no blanket ban on necessary surgery just because of covid. My retained products hung around for 2 months, misoprostol did jack to shift it. I ended up having a D&C plus a major course of antibiotics.
