Hello everyone,

Looking for some advice and reassurance first time pregnant! Anyway had dating scan at 12 weeks 5 days sonographer never said much everything fine.
Anyway midwife call today regarding next appointment, I told her not heard back from Down syndrome screening etc she said nuchal was fine all good 2.5mm nothing to worry about and I just need wait for blood test coming back. So I was happy I googled 2.5 measurement though and a lot of sites seem to say 1.3mm and 2.4 are the normal ??? Yet my midwife says 2.5 is perfectly normal in range? Should I be worried obv I should trust what midwife says.

And she also increasing my thyroxine from 150mcg to 175mcg. Do you think the baby has not been getting enough from me?? I’m worried now regarding that but again midwife says all is fine normal nothing worry about?
Regarding Down syndrome screening I had the scan and blood test on 6.4.20 surely by now I would have heard back if it was High risk and needed further testing. I am 15 weeks now.

Thanks everyone

Sorry cant offer advice, popped in as am also on thyroxine and 10 weeks so a bit behind you and am always keen to learn anything about other peoples experiences as a FTM.

Hopefully someone with some useful experience and knowledge will pop along soon for you

What was your TSH result? That is what would have indicated you needed more thyroxine. Also the baby gets first dibs on any nutrients, so will be fine with that small of a thyroxine increase

My baby's nuchal measurement was also 2.5mm at 13 + 2 days. The sonographer also said this was fine and within normal range. I think they see anything about 3.5mm as concerning. If you havent heard back about your screening tests by now I'm sure it'll be low risk. My downs result was high risk and I heard within 3 days. Incidently this was because my age, and blood hormone levels pushed the risk up.

That should say 'above' not 'about'

Mine was 2.7mm at 13 weeks and a day, waiting on my screening bloods back but both sonographer and 2 midwives said it is within normal range and I found some things online advising that it's normal when I looked for studies. I believe it's an overall risk they come back with rather than one measurement being a worry. They said I d hear within 4 days if bloods were a worry, otherwise I ll get a letter within two weeks.

I take thyroxine, low dose, they tested my blood and said it's in the normal range so to carry on taking the dose I'm on. They said they'll test it every trimester.

The difference between 150 and 175 is minimal. Your baby is probably taking some of yours leaving you a little short. My midwife told me 'babies are like parasites as they take all the nutrients they want and need and if anyone goes short it is always the Mum'. I needed extra iron.
