Hi all,
I am a larger lady (bmi of 36) and 10 weeks pregnant. In the past 18 months I have put on 3.5 stone in weight due becoming unwell with hashimotos / thyroid issues / ME / neurological conditions / massive vitamin deficiencies, high cortisol, ferritin and prolactin levels. I was off work for 4 months because I could barely get out of bed or dress myself and it took me about 6 months to start getting doctors to take me seriously, put me on meds etc which have started to help now I'm on a decent doses but I've only just been starting to feel a bit better. It was a hell of a fight to get there though. During that time I was obviously very inactive even though I was very active before. That coupled with the actual conditions themselves which mess with your weight have meant I've piled it on and been constantly and desperately seeking help from doctors about it.
Now im pregnant when I thought it would never happen, my midwife has referred me for weight management. Which feels like a bit of a slap in the face. I had been begging for help with my conditions for so long to stop me getting to this stage but was ignored.
I obviously want to shift weight despite my health issues for the good of the pregnancy but with my general health, lockdown and now pregnancy symptoms it just seems so difficult.
Has anyone successfully managed to get a grip on their weight and lose some despite being pregnant?
