I am due an ELCS soon after an EMCS 5 years ago. I remember having the worst trapped wind that sat on my chest, back and shoulders. Want to go in prepared this time, anyone got any tips for the best way to relieve it? X

Peppermint water or peppermint tea. Both work really well for trapped wind

Seconded for the peppermint tea.

I was given peppermint tea on the ward but it didn't help. Atleast now they do the 24hour discharge you can be uncomfortable at home rather than in the ward with everyone else.
My section is booked for next month.

All fours rocking back and forth. Gosh that was awful pain!

beth821 · 21/04/2020 20:22

Oh god, I remember it well. I was in so much agony. The only thing that worked was the Peppermint water they can give you (it's not just tea it's a product from a bottle). It's magic.
Oh and don't eat large amounts afterwards even if you're ravenous.

Peppermint capsules, my friend brought them from the health food shop she worked in. Better than tea apparently.
