Hello I am 15 weeks pregnant and midwife increased my thyroxine by 25mcg. So I am now on 175mcg (not 150) she does not seem concerned but I am worried does that mean baby was not getting enough thyroxine ? I am 15 weeks pregnant and only now there increasing my dose my first pregnancy so very stressed over it

I had an over active thyroid when I was pregnant and was under the care of an antenatal endocrinologist. I've since had it removed but was told if I was pregnant again I'd need to be seen by him again due to the fact I'm on thyroxine.

I'd want to see a consultant obstetrician or at least speak to a GP.

I feel your pain - I have Hashimotos and it makes for a very stressful pregnancy.

Did they check your Thyroid levels (TSH, T4, T3) before raising your thyroxine? It's the only way to know how your body is coping with the pregnancy.

I started on 100mcg pre-pregnancy, which was then raised to 125mcg as soon as I found out I was pregnant and now is 150mcg (since 13 weeks) due to my levels changing

I would push your GP or midwife to a) check your thyroid levels (and make sure you get the actual results, not just a normal/abnormal. Find out what your actual numbers are) and then have them checked every 4-6 weeks thereafter b) book you an appointment with an endocrinologist to discuss the numbers. your midwife should be able to do this for you, or at least that was the case in my trust.

If your levels are all within the right range for pregnancy - the baby should be absolutely fine. But you do have to stay on top of your GP/midwife to ensure they are checking the levels regularly throughout pregnancy - it's one of those conditions that isn't that well managed by most health providers

I had just gone down to 100 before I got pregnant, after 12 weeks I was moved up to 150 and at 17 weeks moved to 175. I asked the consultant if there would be any issues with the baby but he said the baby should have got all it needed and it would be me that was low. He wasn’t concerned at all.
