Pregnancy in times of corona

I am 7 weeks pregnant and hopefully, I still am. I have had bleeding with clots (but not heavy) but the hospital has asked me to stay home. They have asked me to take a test next week and if I am still positive they might scan me then.

Although the midwife is going to go ahead with the first appointment (but on the phone?) Do they not need blood tests in the first appointment? But corona has changed everything.

Has anyone else's pregnancy been interrupted as well?

As if pregnancy is not surreal already, adding corona to it is not great for my anxiety levels.

Just looking to hear some positive stories and support overall. Hope everyone is doing well and safe.

I think every single person around the world who is currently pregnant, recently given birth, undergoing IVF etc has had their experience affected in some way.

I'm sorry you are experiencing some bleeding and wish you all the luck in the world with your pregnancy, but the advice to wait another week then retest and potentially get a scan then is probably what they would have said to you anyway, before CV.

Lots of appointments have now been changed to telephone appointments and things like blood tests are being combined with scans. It's different and definitely not perfect but you should still get all the essential tests that you would normally get.

I'm a FTM and this isn't how I imagined pregnancy but we've all just got to try and stay positive and hope things go back to 'normal' sooner rather than later.

Hi OP,

7 weeks pregnant here too but so sorry that you’re dealing with the worry of bleeding. Hopefully it’s nothing significant and things will progress more smoothly from here onwards.

I’ve got my telephone booking in appointment tomorrow but have already been told that my bloods will be taken at 12 weeks at the same time as my scan. That seems sensible.

I think it’s inevitable our pregnancies won’t have quite the same level of personal touch but the RCOG have issued guidance around keeping antenatal care as close to normal as possible. This is my second baby and the majority of my appointments in my first pregnancy could have been done via the phone. You can always test your own blood pressure and urine at home if necessary.
