Baby measuring big at 13 week scan

Went today for my scan at 13 weeks. The sonographer said she couldn't do the normal test for downs ect because the baby is measuring too big. She wouldn't tell me how big the baby is, but I saw on the screen it said gestational age out of range so I'm not sure if it's a tiny bit big or way bigger. This is an ivf baby so I know my dates are correct. Now I'm worried i have a giant baby in there. I will ask my midwife about it when I see her in a few weeks.
Has anyone else had a similar thing and not gone on to have giant baby?
The whole experience has made me come away a bit anxious, which is silly when I saw a healthy heartbeat on the screen.

The back on the neck measurement done on the scan can only be done up to 14 weeks 1 day, so you may only be measuring a week ahead. I do believe you can still have blood testing for the same condition should you want to though. Xx

When I had my 12 week scan, I was measuring 6 days ahead. Went for a 16 week scan on Sunday and I'm measuring 1 day behind. I think babies just have growth spurts at different times 🙂

If the Sonographer didn’t suggest a referral to a consultant then I wouldn’t worry. As the pp said, you can still have the nipt test to put your mind at ease.

I am also pregnant with an ivf baby. I had my scan at 11+6 and he measured 13+1. DH asked the Sonographer if this was a concern and she said not at all, they only worry if they’re small and 100% sure of the dates.

Where I live I have a scan every month. He’s consistently been measuring ahead and the Dr isn’t concerned at all. I had one yesterday at 30+4 and his head and legs were measuring at 32 weeks.

Thanks. Reassuring that others have had similar experience and seems ok. Make sense that some babies might have growth spurts at different times, and some might just be bigger than average.

I was told all the way through that my DS was big, and was advised to have an induction because of it... he was 8lb exactly when born a day or so before his due date (and the hv thinks he was weighed incorrectly and probably weighed less than that!) 🙄
