I realise that every trust is likely different, but considering OH isn't allowed in, were you given a print out?

Yes we were given one. Free as well I think.

HappyAsASandboy · 20/04/2020 21:17

They'll normally give you a picture if you ask for one (or more). Some trusts charge £5 or so for them.

I have also asked the midwife whether I can take a picture of the screen and always been allowed. They asked me not to take video, and saved a few still pictures which they then let me take pictures of on the screen at the end of the appointment.

Do you mean the 12 week scan? Or an EPU admission due to bleeding or other concerns? I thought you only got photos at the "main" scans.

strawberry2017 · 20/04/2020 21:20

Yes usually, my hospital is currently giving them out for free because of the situation.
I was given some at my 36 week scan, pretty pointless coz you can't see anything but it was a lovely gesture! X

Shani123 · 20/04/2020 21:22

I had to have a scan around 9 weeks at EPU and they gave me a pic. I had to have fortnightly scans for a while too and been given one at almost every scan since :) I don't know if every trust does that though

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/04/2020 21:32

My letter says pictures are £3 and to bring coins, I don’t know if that’s different at the moment though

Naturalbornkiller · 20/04/2020 21:34

Yes, got 3.

They didn't want people using the machine to pay for pics so everyone was just being given a few.

Hatscats · 20/04/2020 21:37

Yep I got one for free, they offered, first time they offered but I declined as it was just the yolk sac visible!

Elouera · 20/04/2020 21:42

No, not the 12 week scan. Its at EPU, but not for any bleeding, pain or problems.

I had IVF, I'm older, 2 embryo put in, 2 previous losses and they recommended a viability scan at 7-8 weeks. (both the EGU recommended it 2yrs ago after my 2nd loss, and also the IVF clinic this time around)

I had scans at 7 weeks and 9 weeks bc of multiple previous losses and complications. They didn’t offer a photo but allowed us to take a couple of pictures of the monitor with DH’s phone. That tiny dot is now a delightful 9 month old handful. I hope it all goes well for you, OP. 😊

Lemondropsandgumdrops · 20/04/2020 21:55

I was given a print out at the EPU with 9 different various images printed on the back. It was on the back of a letter that basically said the reason I was in and the findings.

user1493413286 · 20/04/2020 21:59

I didn’t get one at 7 weeks when I had a scan due to some bleeding although maybe I could if I’d asked

London91 · 20/04/2020 22:03

At EPU they let us take a picture at 10 weeks. She looked like a baked bean. Grin

esmerelda1988 · 20/04/2020 22:05

I had scans at 5,7,9 weeks and was given a picture or two every time which I thought was really nice. This was pre covid too and DP was there so they're probably more likely to give you one now.

CeriseClementine · 20/04/2020 22:07

I had a scan at 8 weeks with dc3 because I had no idea how far I was (surprise baby). They were happy to give me a photo although he was little more than a tiny white blob. The difference from 8-12 weeks in development/detail is truly amazing.

MrsC2018 · 20/04/2020 22:10

I've had my IVF viability scan today at 7+5 and got 2 pics free of charge cause husband couldn't attend. Good luck for yours x

Waterdropsdown · 20/04/2020 22:11

No scan photos printed out (big London hospital) they just tell you to take a photo of the screen. It’s like a 32 inch tv not some little tiny monitor. That was 12 week onwards scans. At the same hospital the scans at like 8 weeks ish were on little monitors.

BeMorePacific · 20/04/2020 22:41

I didn’t get one at my 9week scan. I wish I’d have asked, but I was just so relieved the baby was ok! x

bluemoon2468 · 21/04/2020 08:48

I had two scans at the EPU at 6 and 7 weeks. I assumed I wouldn't get a pic (it was quite a sad, sombre environment and felt a bit inappropriate treating it like a fun outing with souvenirs) so didn't even ask. At 6 weeks no pic, but at 7 weeks the sonographer asked if we'd like one and gave it to us for free. At my 12 week scan we got two but had to pay £3 each for them.

Jay0512 · 21/04/2020 08:49

I had a scan at 7 weeks and they gave me one photo.

Elouera · 21/04/2020 10:38

I just got back from my 7 week viability scan at EPU. No photo given- she said the machine can't/doesn't print them out! It was also so blurry, I doubt OH would have seen anything, even if I had taken a photo. Its a large, London hospital, but I did get a copy of the report. 1 heartbeat seen in the uterus and looking good so far- but early days I know.
