Hi everyone, sorry for thise post just feeling very low!
TTC sinse sept 2018, came off the pill after 10 years. Age 28. Cycles were all over the place till about sept 2019 when they started to settle. Now range from 33-38 days and i also get breast pain a weel before now which i have never ever had!
Heres my worries......

Been with same partner since 16, we did both get chlamydia when we were 16 but cleared up, but i think it took a while for some reason! Could this have made me infertile?

Second, DH is on antideppressants and drinks quite a bit every evening. Assuming this is affecting his sperm? Doesnt smoke tho.

I had blood tests for infertility but didnt here back and they said if i dont hear back thats good. DH is waiting to do a sperm anaylisis but obvs cant go near hospitals atm!

So thats it rant over, just feeling like its never gonna happen! I dont get why! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I've heard chlamydia can effect fertility but I don't know the ins and outs of it.
Have you tried preconception vitimans and one for your dh? I don't know if it made any difference really but after trying for a year I put my partner at the time on zinc tablets and we got pregnant very soon after. You can also track your cycle using fertility friend where you track your basal body temperature each morning, this will give you a clear indication of when you ovulate so you can dtd at exactly the right time.
Good luck to you

Just wanted to say don’t give up - I came off the pill March 2016 and didn’t conceive until July 2017. I couldn’t face going to the doctor as I knew I was ovulating and I didn’t want bad news to be honest. The month I thought we’d missed it due to a work trip, we conceived our first child. There was nothing on the face of it wrong with us, right side of 30, no health problems etc, I think stress made a massive difference to us.

Hi - sorry you’re going through this. Might be worth a follow up with your GP (or whichever doctor ordered the fertility tests?) - they should be able to arrange a phone consult for you.
It’s a really stressful time at the moment which can’t be helping.
To answer your questions:

  1. Chlamydia can sometimes affect fertility - more likely if you had pelvic inflammatory disease rather than just discharge/chlamydia found on swabs. Remember lots of people have had chlamydia and still manage to conceive so don’t be too worried about that just now.
  2. Without being able to get a semen test just now you won’t know about your partner for sure - but you are in this together, you need to have a proper chat together about things you can do to improve chances of conceiving. That means he needs to stop drinking or cut it down dramatically - and that needs to be a longer term commitment because it takes around 3 months for lifestyle changes to affect sperm. Consider a men’s multivitamin and one for you too? Antidepressants - I’d suggest discussing that side of things with his GP. With Coronavirus it’s a very difficult time for lifestyle changes and depression may be worse so I’d be careful about altering that. Certain types of antidepressants can affect sperm count so perhaps if his depression has been very stable he could consider changing or decreasing dose - but do NOT do that without talking it through properly with regular GP.

Couple of other thoughts - Covid/lockdown time may not be the easiest time for lifestyle changes and could put even more stress on you. - might be worth trying to take the focus off conceiving for a couple of months and come back to it when things have settled down. Easier said than done I know!

Also someone mentioned BBT and ovulation tracking - if you post on the conception board you’ll get lots of detailed comments on how to do that. Consider using ovulation predictor kits for a couple of months to make sure you’re ovulating when you think you are as well.

Good luck
