Early stages of labour

Hi!

Due on Saturday but woke up at 6am with stomach cramps, started timing them and around every 30 mins they come for around 50/60 seconds. Could this be the early stages? 😄

Don't want to bother triage incase nothing comes of it and was induced with an epidural last time so was sleeping nicely all through the contractions, plan to call when/if they get more intense!

What do you think?

Hi greenflower279, is this ur 1st baby? Sounds like labour could be starting or maybe Braxton Hics. If this is your first baby & this IS it starting, it could be days before the real ones kick in so relax as much as possible, try & get as much sleep as you can & stay calm. With first baby I started having contractions on the Sun as, by the Sun evening they were uncomfortable enough for me not 2 sleep, things progressed slowly & she wasn't born till the Wed - so rest as much as possible. Good luck :)

My cousin went 3 days before they had her in to the hospital because of the current pandemic, otherwise I think they would of had her in earlier.
She went to the hospital twice and they sent her home twice, even though she was 2cm dilated.
She ended up going into hospital when she 8cm dilates and that's when they kept her in!

I would say keep monitoring your contractions and once they are less than 10-15 minutes apart then get yourself to hospital, or if your waters break in the meantime.
Obviously if it becomes unbearable then go straight in!
I wish you all the luck in the world that everything goes smoothly for you!! 🥰🥰🥰

hospital don't admit you until your 4cm dilated so the contractions will need to be a lot closer together otherwise they will just send you home again xx

My hospital didn’t want to know until I had 3 contractions within 10 mins and his had been happening for an hour. I had a 3 day labour with DD1 and 2 weeks of pronominal labour with DD2. It sounds like the start of something but it could still be a long time before you meet your little one or you could have a baby in your arms by dinner time.

I have been told not to come in unless waters break and things dont progress or I'm getting 3 contractions within 10 minutes. That's our guidelines to be admitted.

Good luck!

Just to had DD2 was a known high risk labour and when I rang them with 3 contractions in 10 mins they would have been happy for me to day at home as would have I but I want to lay claim to a birthing pool room.

Thanks for the replies!

Cramps stopped after a few hours and midwife advised to only phone when contractions are strong and 3 mins apart, was really hoping he was coming!

Not long to go anyway, but something is definitely happening in there 😊
