So in view of today's antics I thought I'd get your opinions... I decided I would veet my unwanted hairs away... Now sat with a ice back on the crotch whilst feeling the burn!!
I mean its smooth and feels tidy who wlknows what it looks like my guess is a joint of lamb.
However ladies what's the general feeling are we just leaving it to grow.... Giving it a tidy up or removal all the way? I don't feel I could veet it again should I want to have any skin left....... And its a real mood killer if anyone wants a excuse!! I've been waddling round the house like a penguin looking for relief... Savlon does not work... Thrush cream nope just good old water n ice!!

I had a full leg and bikini wax at 39 weeks. Made me feel loads better.

jeremypaxo · 19/04/2020 19:35

There is nothing wrong with a full bush just as there is nothing wrong with trimming, waxing or shaving it. Whatever a woman wants to do is fine and that goes for pregnant women too! Enough with the judging.

I did trimming only during pregnancy. I had one wax and it was so much more painful than usual that I didn't do it again! I did maintain a bit of grooming though, it helped me feel "normal" at a time when I definitely did not feel attractive!

Are you expecting the staff to be caring for you or rating your body?

If medical teams ever need to remove hair for surgical/medical reasons they always use clippers, they do not razors - it's an infection risk otherwise.

Which rather puts paid to the "cleanliness" argument for shaving. Seriously, I wouldn't be fucking about doing stuff that creates an unnecessary risk of infection. There's a reason pre-admission paperwork tells patients not to shave themselves. Sepsis isn't a joke.

As @Igotthemheavyboobs said, can't be dealing with the regrowth itch after labor, or ever for that fact! I genuinely don't know how women do it. I used to do it clean shaven and the regrowth is awful. If you really want to trim it give it a once over with some hair clippers x

happymummy12345 · 19/04/2020 19:59

I always shave as can't bare any hair down there (no pun intended). I was able to do it myself until 38 weeks. Then my husband had to help until after I gave birth.

RingaRosie · 19/04/2020 20:02

I have a full bush, I think it offers protection down there. But it does get hot in summer, so I’ll have a look at it now, before bump gets too big...
In 10 weeks it should be somewhere acceptable!

Sertchgi123 · 19/04/2020 20:12

Just leave it be, we're adult women, we're meant to have hair there.

Allgirlmum · 19/04/2020 21:56

I've trimmed mine down tidied it but not risking shaving etc to close to delivery not worth a red sore fanja on birth day

Nfblues · 19/04/2020 23:15

The midwives and medical staff definitely will not care, I’ve seen numerous people’s bits as a nurse and take no note of how hairy they are Grin

On the other hand, I usually do a full wax regularly myself so now feel really uncomfortable with any hair. I’m 23 weeks and can no longer see what I’m doing so I’ve resorted to squatting in the shower and shaving without looking, as long as I’m slow i don’t accidentally cut myself. It’s prob a bit patchy but makes me feel loads better.

New2020 · 20/04/2020 03:37

Im so used to a full wax but that's all changed with lockdown! Love this thread as have been wondering what other pregnant women have been doing!

I used veet once years ago and vowed to never again after the burns! And the shaving regrowth is so painful it's not worth going there.

Looks like it will have to be a trim using scissors

Reginabambina · 20/04/2020 04:00

It never occurred to me that women removed hair before birth. I just assumed that people left well enough alone after they grew too big to see. But I suppose it makes sense to prepare that way if you don’t like getting blood in your public hair.

BelfastNonBlonde · 20/04/2020 05:32

Ughh I want a wax!

I need to take some action but am really afraid to put scissors anywhere near somewhere I can’t see - and haven’t shaved down there in years and a bit scared about in grown hairs / regrowth TBH..

Husbands Clippers may be a good shout?

To all those incredulous at why we would
Feel the urge to be neat down there - I’m
not even thinking about labour, or what the midwives think, I know they don’t care. It’s simply a personal preference.

I feel cleaner when tidy / after a wax, and particularly if bleeding post baby - I will feel a lot cleaner.

Avearage · 21/04/2020 17:23

It makes me feel slightly more normal 😂....

I feel just before Im due I will be wafting hubby's beard trimmer round just to make myself feel better..... I can't not shave the legs the hedgehog feel isn't for me.... However veet worked well on them Grin
