Hello, I'm working away from home for a month and I'm only 10 days in. My girlfriend back home is 15 weeks pregnant. I'm struggling mentally being stuck in my room on my days off, I'm constantly overthinking.. my girlfriend is my source of happiness but she's been very hormonal during the pregnancy and now I'm away from her this has continued and she has very hot and cold spells when we text (she refuses to FaceTime or have a phone call). She can go hours without texting and can say some mean things over texts and expects me to always be chill. I sometimes get this feeling that she isn't interested in me anymore and doesn't care as much as I do about this relationship.. i know we're currently in a pandemic but is it normal to feel this way? If I try and talk to her about it she'll just get pissed off with me

She is probably struggling with the distance too - maybe being more cold and closed off so she doesn’t miss you, detaching as it were. She shouldn’t be being mean to you though, are you maybe being a bit needy if as you say you are an over thinker?

Being pregnant it's completely normal to have your mood and feelings change within a day, then swing back again.
Your body is growing a human, that takes masses of energy as well as messes up your body in the weirdest ways (all for an amazing reason but that doesn't take away how hard it can be).
The more you want from her, the more she'll probably feel worse and you'll get nowhere. Unfortunately you're going to have to just be there for her as much as you can without hounding her or depending on her for your happiness. It's a very odd time which can cause a lot of worry and anxiety but take time out for you. If you feel worried, let yourself dwell on it for a few minutes then force yourself to move on. Find ways to occupy yourself so you're not sitting around waiting for her to message you or over analysing everything.

Ronnie - yeah perhaps you are right. She's the type of girl who doesn't like to show her feelings tho, such as missing me. Yeah I believe I'm being a bit needy in the sense I would like her to text me back more often then she does!

Sparkle - thank you for your reply, that's really helpful! It's just a struggle to get used too. She's been like this a few times since getting pregnant so need to keep reminding myself that she's going through a lot and can't help the way she is at the minute!

I'm 15 weeks pregnant (tomorrow) and I know I would struggle with DP being away for a month. It's remarkable just how much pregnancy does mess with your mood. For me, I feel better when I know DP is taking an active interest in the pregnancy and baby's development, when he's asking about how I feel and being a bit overprotective. Talk to her. It's no easy for either of you.

Believe me, the first trimester is not the time to make assumptions based on a woman's mood. At 15 weeks my morning sickness was all day and all night. I could hardly keep water down. And I wanted to dump my partner about 30 times a day. The first trimester was like being in the grip of some crazy jekyll and Hyde mind control drug for me with both pregnancies. But it was mostly passed by 20 weeks. Is this your girlfriends first pregnancy?

She does enjoy conversations about the baby, but I don't want to over talk about it, if that makes any sense haha. And yeah it is her first pregnancy! I'm just trying to hide my relationship insecurities (I never tell her about this). so I'm thankful I can vent and get advice on here!
