Baby bath?

I saw on another thread here recently someone say a baby bath was a useful thing. Originally I planned on not getting anything like that and just getting in bath with baby, but to be honest thats starting to sound like a massive faff and I just want my life to be as easy as possible!

Was thinking I'd be able to put it on kitchen counter and it only takes 2L of water to fill so sounds like it would make things easy.

Do you think it's really worth it? I'm so undecided!

I found a bath seat within the big bath more useful than a baby bath personally. Allows for relatively hands-free bathing so you can wash them without also trying to keep hold of a wet wriggly baby!

If you want to bathe them in the kitchen at any point, just put them in the sink/a washing up bowl!

We had a bath with a built in recliner and seat as they grew, it was great as meant I didn't need to worry about holding on to a slippy wriggly baby and they could move freely in the water.

We used ours until they were about a year old and sitting in the water confidently.

yatapina · 18/04/2020 01:33

This is what we had M&P ergo bath.

I'm all for minimalistic and not shelling out for random baby paraphernalia but this is one thing I wouldn't have wanted to be without.

T0rt0ise · 18/04/2020 06:56

We were given a schnuggle baby bath and I wouldn't be without it. If buy one again if it got broken.

OhNoNoNoNotThatOne · 18/04/2020 07:01

I didn't see the point in a bath, the sink in my bathroom is deep enough to wash baby in. However dhs nan bought us one anyway and its actually been quite useful.
I sit ds in it while I shower with some toys and he happily plays for the 10/15 minutes I need.
I tried having him in the bath with me a couple of weeks ago but babies are slippery when wet!!! So it was easier to put his bath in the bath, fill it up and put him in.

They are useful, but I'd still say bit entirely necessary.

not not bit

^ schnuggle bath!! Best thing we've had for our baby.

Colouringinbook · 18/04/2020 07:06

We had a shnuggle bath and it was brilliant! My DS used to love splashing in it and it meant I could wash his hair without my DH being around.

I tried getting in with him a couple of times but I don't like sitting in 4 inches of warm water.

jesslambo88 · 18/04/2020 07:13

We had a shnuggle bath and it was brilliant...can't fault it and would highly recommend xxx

Magpiefeather · 18/04/2020 07:19

Another vote for schnuggle bath! Absolutely brilliant and supports baby really well

Mybobowler · 18/04/2020 07:20

Another vote here for the Shnuggle. I was firmly in the "they're a waste of money/plastic" camp but it was great - I could bathe DD hands free, it required very little water, it's got a small footprint so didn't take up much room, and she was in it until she turned one!

SleepyBoPeepy · 18/04/2020 07:24

Agree with the shnuggle bath recommendations!
Obviously babies need 100% supervision in any bath but they become ‘independent’ in the shnuggle quite quickly which makes things easier aa you have both hands free for washing them. I think, in our experience anyway, the baby likes the relative independence of not being held in the water too.
Our baby has had sink baths or gone in the big bath with one of us when away from home and it’s fine but much more faffy. It might be because we weren’t used to it but a lot of the time it became a two person job as one of us would be stopping the baby from slipping under the water whilst the other actually did the washing.

SleepyBoPeepy · 18/04/2020 07:26

And I agree with a poster further up. I like hot, deep, bubbly baths; not ‘plain’ body temp water which hardly covers the thighs Grin

ChelseaCat · 18/04/2020 07:32

Another vote for the schnuggle bath

Maincat · 18/04/2020 07:36

The snuggle bath is fantastic.

AmelieTaylor · 18/04/2020 07:46

They make life a lot easier. However, 2l of water is barely anything, so it must be really tiny, so maybe have a look at some others.

happymummy12345 · 18/04/2020 07:49

I loved the baby bath, wouldn't have been without it. When ds was tiny we put it on the dining table, then when he got bigger we put the baby bath in the bath itself.

MarchSurprise · 18/04/2020 07:50

The Shnuggle bath was one of my favourite baby purchases. It made bathing my little one so easy. He's just turned one and I've gone back to it for most baths because it's so little water, feels less wasteful. He loves it, is safe and supported. I'll be safe when he can't go in anymore.

MarchSurprise · 18/04/2020 07:51

That should have said sad when he can't go in anymore!!

Isolatinginthekitchen · 18/04/2020 07:53

Shnuggle bath!!!

I also spent the first few weeks mostly in the bath with my baby 😂 really helped my pain! I fed him in there and he slept on me 😊 my dh took him sporadically for bum changes (we used waterproof cloth nappies for our shared baths)

mamaof2girls · 18/04/2020 07:54

We had one like this with out first and I have bought a new one for my second that's due in 5 weeks honestly think they are they best things don't have to hold them and wash etc just so much easier plus folds up when not using so doesn't use a lot off space etc! We got ours from mothercare so not sure where else sells them! X

Baby bath?

You can get second hand schnuggle baths on Facebook market/gumtree for like a tenner.
When my babe comes in May, I’ll probably just wash it in the sink or a large bowl for all the times it will need bathed in the first couple of months.
Perhaps on down the line I’ll get a baby bath for when I will need to use it more.

RoseGoldEagle · 18/04/2020 08:16

Another voice for the shnuggle bath! DS had so many exploding nappies in the early months including sometimes at night and it made life so much easier just being able to fill that little bath so quickly and get him cleaned up

fool11 · 18/04/2020 08:24

We had a baby bath with a recliner in our main bath, was so much easier to bath the baby..tried to bath baby when I had a bath and it wasn’t practical..easier with a bath..you will need more than 2l of water otherwise baby will be cold..

mynameiscalypso · 18/04/2020 08:26

Agree with everyone else. We sometimes put DS in a big bath but this is mainly to entertain him and needs both of us there really. A baby bath is so easy for when it's just one of you and DS is quite happy to sit in it splashing for a while; the water is deep enough that he doesn't get cold whereas I'd be too nervous to run a similarly deep bath in a big bath.
