Worse thing about being pregnant?

SamSamA · 17/04/2020 23:54

17 weeks pregnant and currently my worse thing is feeling like I can't breathe properly. This is my second baby and with the first I thought something was wrong with me. The 'not being able to breathe properly' thing was just happening to me. Now I realise that no, this is not a me thing but a pregnancy thing and I hate it. But 5 months to go so deep breaths, literally.
Anyone else got a 'worse thing?'

First and second trimester was the constipation.
Now 31 weeks- how slow I am now. Everything takes ages and effort.

So12345 · 18/04/2020 11:14

Hmm...
1st Trimester- Being knackered and the agony of anxiety thinking I’d lose the baby.
2nd Trimester- No real complaints!
3rd Trimester- Being locked in my house due to COVID 19 and not going out, seeing family etc. And also feeling physically useless- I used to be v active we’re about to move house. I can do almost nothing useful!

Really didn't enjoy pregnancy at all.
Worst thing for me was the constant anxiety, followed by the first trimester exhaustion and nausea and then the horrid heartburn.
Giving birth was the good bit as it was over relatively quickly to those 9 months of torment. Wish I'd be able to enjoy it more!

Snoring so loud I'd wake myself up over and over and over

Emberfoot · 18/04/2020 12:17

Waking up in the middle of the night with a mouth full of reflux 😕

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 18/04/2020 12:21

Feeling sick constantly

Glooorb · 18/04/2020 12:29

Definitely the worry. I can deal with physical symptoms but what goes on in my head.... I just imagine the worst! I need to practice my CBT techniques again...

grey12 · 18/04/2020 12:40

I had horrible cramps for my first pregnancy Confused

I would wake up my husband screaming!! One time I couldn't walk for the day...

Banana every morning helped.

CrabApple00 · 18/04/2020 14:15

I also have a shortness of breath. But I'd put lack of focus (I used to be so focussed I could do a day's work in a few hours...now...not so much...it can take me days and days) and anxiety about miscarriage or an anomaly at the top. I am so grateful to be having this baby but the first trimester has sucked and I wasn't prepared for life to be so impacted before the baby is even here.

PippinStar · 18/04/2020 14:28

Hyperemesis
Insomnia
Shortness of breath / waking up feeling like I'm gasping for air
Low blood pressure (unable to exercise, lots of resting)
Terrible heartburn
Irritable uterus causing constant contractions from 24 weeks
Slow, early labour that didn't / couldn't progress

It's fair to say that I don't love pregnancy Grin

sarahc336 · 18/04/2020 15:24

Mine was restless legs, dreading it coming back this time Confused

1990shopefulftm · 18/04/2020 15:39

I'm pregnant with my first and I'm finding the pelvic pain a bit challenging, it can be difficult for me to get up and down stairs at times.

june2007 · 18/04/2020 20:47

REnauds of the nips. (Ouch.)

quarantinevibes · 18/04/2020 20:55

I’m so glad you posted this. I have health anxiety and keep thinking somethings wrong with me. I am also 16 weeks and have felt like I can’t breath properly for weeks now!

quarantinevibes · 18/04/2020 20:56

Worst thing about the pregnancy for me is the migraines and head aches. I have had a head ache every day for god knows how long. I can’t remember the last day I didn’t take paracetamol Sad

MsChatterbox · 18/04/2020 20:59

Hi OP. I have the same not being able to breathe feeling. I put it down to baby for ages. Turns out I was mildly asthmatic pre pregnancy and pregnancy has heightened it! I now have an inhaler. Just something to consider! Worst thing for me is the length. 40 weeks is just toooo long for impatient me!

October2020 · 18/04/2020 20:59

The worst thing so far has been the anxiety - not knowing if all is okay. Followed by the stabby nipple pain!
But actually the WORST thing was not being able to get pregnant. So I try not to grumble!

Chickoletta · 18/04/2020 21:01

I’m in the middle of a miscarriage after 2 successful pregnancies. Try not to think about the ‘worst things’ about pregnancy - believe me, this is worse than all of them.

Glooorb · 21/04/2020 19:17

@Danielle95lab I also have low PAPP-A at 0.36 - it was scary googling! (I can't help it!) they haven't said anything about additional scans to me though. I've been referred to a consultant obstetrician anyway due to other issues (existing health issues and anti E antibody) so the midwife said I should consult with the obstetrician as she isn't able to read blood results definitively. I never knew pregnancy could be this anxiety inducing...

Genie7910 · 21/04/2020 19:22

Gestational diabetes.

Number3or4 · 21/04/2020 19:36
  1. Pregnancy + birth anxiety
  2. Baby being in an awkward position that makes it hard to move/ stand / sleep without my left hip hurting.
libdan450 · 21/04/2020 19:43

The lack of sleep, constantly having the baby under my ribs, the backache is horrendous. Can not get comfy at all, braxton hicks and now I have the pleasure of those what I can only describe as electric shock in my bits 😂 who doesn't love pregnancy.

FilthyforFirth · 21/04/2020 19:52

Hyperemesis. The 24/7 nausea. It is hard to overestimate just how soul destroying it is.

I have no energy and barely making it out of bed. November can't come soon enough.
