Brown spotting 25 weeks

I'm 25 weeks with baby 2 and keep seeing brown spotting on my underwear. It's not daily but a few times a week. It's not after anything in particular (as I know e.g. sex can cause this), and it's not much, nowhere near enough to change underwear, but it's worrying me as I don't remember having this with baby 1. The baby is kicking lots and I'm otherwise well.

I mentioned this to my midwife, who said to go into hospital to get it checked if I'm worried. I'd really rather not, as our local hospital is apparently very busy with COVID. Can anyone - an obstetrician? - comment or provide any reassurance?

Thank you

Personally I would do as the midwife suggests. I'm a high risk pregnancy (not for brown spotting to be clear!) and it's far more important for me to go to my hosp appointments (where they're treating corona also) than to miss them for the sake of my baby's health

Thank you. Anyone else got some thoughts?

I would definitely call the hospital for their advice

Hi, with my first pregnancy I had brown/pink spotting when i wiped from about 15 -30 weeks. It would last a few days at a time, every week or two. I was beyond worried about it and never away from the hospital. However, when i was at the hospital, nobody was ever worried about it as long as baby heart beat and movements were fine. I do think it's worth getting checked out (if only for your own sanity!) but i imagine it's probably due to cervical erosion which is quite common in pregnany because the area is so enriched to support growing a baby. Just to say I would agree with Toffee but I would get it checked out for my own sanity. Wear gloves if you have them, use the hand gel dotted around in there and lots of hand washing - when I’ve been into MAC all of the staff were in PPE and it was spotless if that helps reduce your worries about going in.

Thank you @Toffee86 that's really helpful. I'll call the hospital today and see what they say
