Hello lovelies,

Just a quick question - I'm 20 weeks pregnant and my cousin has given me her Chicco next to me crib. I'm going to buy a new mattress for it as I've seen this is what is recommended, but I was just wondering, do I need to buy a moses basket to put inside the Next 2 Me? If yes, my son hated his so what are everyones thoughts on the Babymoov Cosy dreams?
Sorry if these are stupid questions but it's been so long since I had my DS that everything seems like it has changed lol. Hope you can help :-)

You dont need anything in it. Just the mattress. My dd has slept in hers from the day we brought her home.

Yep stupid question you don't need a Moses basket to put inside your crib Grin

CantKeepSecrets · 16/04/2020 22:13

You don't need anything inside it, really handy thing to have and DS slept really well in there. We did use a sleepyhead inside ours which worked really well for us too. I'm pregnant again and will use the same set up for this baby Smile

You don’t need a Moses basket or anything Else in the next to me crib, just a mattress and the baby 😉

You can buy both the mattress and sheets for it on amazon if you’re struggling to find them.

Not a stupid question at all.

I had a next to me crib, my daughter flat out hated it. It was too big and spacious for a newborn. I swaddled, put my t shirts in etc the lot.

Health visitor reminded me that they've been curled up inside for nine months and now we expect them to lay flat on their backs in an empty large area.

I ended up putting her in the bassinet part of the pram in the next to me crib until she got too big for that. Then I transferred her into the next to me crib.

I just dropped the legs on the sides down so I could get to her easily at night.

Just something to think about

Pippinsqueak · 16/04/2020 22:18

Plus i found if she fell asleep in it down stairs it was easy to transfer her up to bed without having to pick her up

It's difficult to predict! I've had 3 babies, pregnant with number 4. The first started out sleeping in the moses basket on a rocking stand and I switched to the next to me around 2 months old. Number 2 hated the moses basket. He went into the next to me very quickly. Number 3 slept in the moses basket placed in the next to me for quite a while despite being a big baby.
Annoyingly, I sold both as I had my tubes tied and was supposed to be done...so I'm planning on buying a very cheap second hand moses basket, just in case, and a next to me.

Thank you ladies, I really appreciate it. Do any of you have an opinion on these? Debating whether I should buy one or not.

@JessH97 FTM here and from what I've read, those sleeping nests/aids are for supervised naps only and not recommended for overnight sleeping.

Pinkflipflop85 · 16/04/2020 23:39

They aren't safe for unsupervised/overnight sleeping.

Lots of people will have them or other nests etc and say they baby was fine. But it depends on what level of risk you are happy to take. I personally couldn't, as i follow the lullaby trust advice.

Mummyspider27 · 17/04/2020 08:32

@JessH97 we had one for my daughter for the pram as I read good reviews. My daughter hated it, was really hard so didn’t squish round her was just uncomfortable. I regretted buying it x

It sounds like a stupid question, and no, you do not need to put a Moses basket in your crib.

But my youngest hated the Next to Me to begin with. It's quite big! So I used to put her 'to bed' in the Moses basket downstairs with us when she was tiny (probably for the first 6-8 weeks) then carry it up and put it in the Next to Me when I went to bed.

Once she was bigger she went down in the Next to Me fine, in fact she slept in it until she was 9m old and got too big.
