Nursery furniture

Hi ladies my baby is due in August and I'm just starting to look into furniture for the nursery. We have a 3 bed house but I think with most houses like these the 3rd bedroom is on the small side so only looking into getting a cot bed, wardrobe and maybe chest of drawers, can any of you recommend any online companies that are worthwhile looking on for reasonably priced but obviously well made furniture please.

We found that mamas and papa’s seemed like the best quality for the price. I wasn’t impressed with the silver cross range we saw in John Lewis.
To be fair the ikea stuff isn’t bad for the price either depending on your budget.

We ended up getting our mamas and papas set through www.pramworld.co.uk and got it for a really good price.

Hi

I got the Tutti Bambini Moderna range. Fab quality and reasonable price. Easy to put together too. You can get it on Wayfair x

I've just had set Mothercare set delivered from online4baby. We got a big discount via the Emma's diary app, I would highly recommend checking it out as they often have good offers. With the discount, it's cost us about £40 less than getting the same type of items (wardrobe, cotbed, changing table/drawers) from IKEA would have so I was pretty pleased.

Got ours from mamas and papas. Wasn't the cheapest but DD is nearly 3 and it all still looks brand new.

We bought Mamas and papas cot bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers (plus a shelf). The wardrobe and chest of drawers are still in use, DS will be 16 in August, we have 3 kids

We looked at all sorts and because we wanted more in the room than the standard cot / wardrobe / changing table set up went for ikea. I genuinely didn't think I'd like it but the quality is in my opinion better than the other options out there at around the £1k mark. Everything arrived perfectly and we put it all up over the course of a week or so. There was a LOT of packaging though! Congratulations too by the way!

We got the mamas and papas set from Argos ☺️

I haven't bothered with nursery specific furniture other than a cot. Seems to me that you pay more money for furniture that isn't as sensible a size so have just got regular furniture that fits the space. You can get cot top changers and changers for the top of chests of drawers and then you don't need a separate changing table

Another vote for mamas and papas. We got the Lawson set which looks brand new and DS is nearly 3. I am going to use it for new baby and redecorate DS's room now he has ideas on what he would like his room to look like!

Go to ikea and get what you need. How many clothes will your baby have that you need a wardrobe and a chest of drawers?

Modestandatinybitsexy · 16/04/2020 08:38

I only got a cot with a top changer. I did also get a wardrobe but ended up putting everything in the chest of drawers. Baby and toddler clothes are so tiny and mine went through so many outfit changes that hanging everything up felt like a waste of time.

I got a set from argos (bed, wardrobe plus dressing table) and still have it 6 years later. Served for my first and my now my second is using it.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/04/2020 08:54

Ours didn't need a wardrobe til they started wearing school uniform.

We had a cot Bed, chest of drawers (ikea) with space for a change mat on top (barely used as changed in our room first 6m and downstairs during day). We had a lovely shelf with hooks above the drawers for books/teddies/bits and bobs.

I don't get wardrobes for babies as (1) they don't have much stuff or if they do it's only about 10 inches long (2) who is putting sleepsuits on coathangers? Just fold them into a drawer it's easier (3) they aren't bug enough to last them very long so once they need 7/8yo clothes they've well outgrown the smaller baby wardrobes.

We've got a mamas and papas set and I love it! It's so well made and sturdy. It's not the cheapest but not too pricy either, it's definitely worth the money. Good luck!

yatapina · 16/04/2020 09:01

We just had a cotbed (Mothercare own brand about £100 14 years ago) which did both kids until they were 4 and a normal chest of drawers that are still in use.

Never bothered with a changing unit as preferred to do it on the floor for safety, or on my lap/bed (on a mat) in the early days. Had 2 sections and can't say it ever bothered me tbh.
