Has anyone ever felt a first baby move as early as 15/16 weeks?

I'm 15+4 today with my first baby. I know that it's still so early (especially for a first pregnancy) but for the last few days I've had fluttering/bubbly/movement feelings 1-2 times per day. The first day I assumed it must be gas or something (although it's different from any sensation I've ever had) but now it's so consistent I'm really questioning whether I'm feeling the baby move! I told my MIL who laughed it off and said there's no way I'm feeling the baby this early (made me feel a bit stupid tbh, but maybe she's right!) I'm showing a LOT considering I'm so early on - I'm quite slim and even in clothes I have a clear, unmistakable bump I can't hide.

Yep, felt my baby move at 16 weeks. Felt like heart palpitations or muscle spasms in my lower tummy.

Juanmorebeer · 15/04/2020 15:44

Yes I did. Like pop sort of feelings. I was already showing at that point as was slim and petite in those days.

ejmay90 · 15/04/2020 15:49

I felt baby move at 16 weeks, feel like pops and flutters to start with!

Elephantonascooter · 15/04/2020 15:51

Yep at 17weeks. People also laughed me off but I knew what I felt!

CatSmize · 15/04/2020 15:53

17 weeks so not far off! It was exactly as you described. I'm also slim so was showing quite a lot by then. Not sure if it's related.

TeddyBeans · 15/04/2020 15:55

My son gave me what I assume was a hefty headbutt at 17 weeks. Didn't start to feel him consistently til 20+ weeks though. It's not impossible op

Anaesthetist83 · 15/04/2020 15:58

Yes, felt mine at just over 14 weeks - I think having had IVF and having become quite switched on to various gynae related “sensations”, I picked up on it early. I didn’t tell my husband immediately as thought he would think I was bonkers

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 15/04/2020 15:59

Yes - with my second and he never stopped moving! He's nearly 18 now and still hasn't stopped moving! He paces a room rather than standing still 😂 But I'm sure that's not why I felt him. It's much more to do with where the baby is lying and the location of the placenta.

KingaRoo · 15/04/2020 16:00

Yes at 14 weeks. As PP said I think I am very over sensitive to gynae sensations!

Mucklowe · 15/04/2020 16:57

At about 15/16 weeks I felt a sort of popping, like someone was flicking me from the inside. Then nothing for a few weeks, and now definite rolls and twitches at 20 weeks.

Chirpychirpy3 · 15/04/2020 17:00

I felt my first flutter at 16 weeks. I had an anterior placenta so took a while to feel proper kicks.

RyanStartedTheFire · 15/04/2020 17:02

I felt my first at 13/14 weeks. I was very slim at the time which I think helped feel the movement. Very subtle but definitely there.

artistformerlyknownas · 15/04/2020 17:05

Yep I absolutely felt mine at 16 weeks.

sunshinefordays · 15/04/2020 17:55

@bluemoon2468
Congratulations! I'm 17.5 weeks and I started feeling little flutter/bubble type feelings low down in my stomach about 2 weeks ago. In the last week or so they have started feeling more like little thuds or taps, and this morning when we were still in bed and my husband put his hand on my tummy he felt them too! So yes, definitely possible! Smile this is one of the lovely things about pregnancy so let's enjoy it!

bluemoon2468 · 15/04/2020 18:05

So glad that it sounds like I'm not going crazy, and very exciting that this might actually be my little baby saying hi 😁 Thanks so much for all of your replies!

Yes 14 weeks with my first, he was in constant motion throughout the pregnancy and hasn’t stopped since!

17 weeks with my second, a much calmer child 🙂

tattychicken · 15/04/2020 18:17

Yep. About 13 weeks with DC2, only because I knew what the bubbles meant and she was very very active.

user3274826 · 15/04/2020 18:19

Yes, just 16 weeks. I'm glad I felt them early because I had an anterior placenta which eventually put a stop to me feeling movements as much later on.

Neeentay · 15/04/2020 18:31

I felt my first at 16+4, my second at 18 weeks

123456kent · 15/04/2020 19:35

Definitely - no doubt. Annoys me when people laugh it off or deny it!

LittleLittleLittle · 15/04/2020 19:38

Yep I did.

She slower down between 22-25 weeks then after that everytime there was any music kicked like hell.

Cardboard33 · 15/04/2020 19:58

I felt my (first) baby at 16 weeks. Possibly at 15 weeks but for sure at 16 weeks as I was on the train home from work. I think it mostly depends on body type and where the placenta is - I'm naturally very slim (size 6/8 tops, A cup) and just went outwards with the baby weight which is why people said I felt it earlier as there was nowhere for baby to hide, particularly considering I also apparently had an anterior placenta which usually means ladies feel less movement. He was massively massively active inside me then when he came out he also didn't stop moving as a newborn, including in his sleep.

2020Aug · 15/04/2020 20:06

I got my first flutters around 16 weeks, I thought I might be imagining it but now its stronger, I often get strong kicks in the same place as the flutters. Clearly one of my baby's favourite positions!

Jem9153 · 16/04/2020 08:49

Meee! I felt his first movements at 15w6d and also thought they may be gas, but they have got stronger and stronger and are definite kicks now ☺️ (I’m 23 weeks now).

My first baby too and I’m also slim (or was before bump 😂)

howells · 16/04/2020 08:55

Yes, even earlier than that, about 13-14 weeks. But it was my second, so I recognised the feeling.
