Hypnobirthing did it work for you?

Hello All

With all antenatal classes cancelled I'm looking at doing an online hypnobirthing class with the positive birthing company.

Did you try it with your birth and did it work for you?

Many thanks 😊

I tried with my first but didn't try very hard.
I found the visualisations didn't click with me, but the breathing exercises were great in labour and kept me calm. Try the positiv birth company one. That was good.
The Katherine graves one seemed a bit meh to me. Her voice really grates on me...

I did the digital pack and it was excellent
Hypnobirthing is not 'namby pamby airyfairy shite' it's based on science. I knew what was going to happen to my body and why.
Did I have a the perfect birth? No, I took alllllll the drugs (so I could sleep) and ended up with an emergency section. But I was incredibly calm and chilled out throughout, in my head I was on a beach listening to an audiobook.
I didn't panic, scream or cry once.
Give it a go

I really believe that the best and most important tool to have is information. I went into my first birth with very poor knowledge assuming it would just go well (how naive)!
It took me 10 years to become brave enough to have dd2. I went to NCT classes and planned a home birth, I read as much as I could get my hands on( pre internet) and felt very well informed.

If you read the intro n the link, you will think it’s all twee wanky Bollocks, not at all science based. as if a bit of meditating can prevent pain on childbirth 😂😂

For my second birth I had a hypnobirthing app. It was cheap, but I really liked it. I had an uncomplicated pregnancy and a fast labour. The techniques helped me to manage the pain. Full disclosure, I had been practising yoga and medical for several years by then, so found the techniques fairly straightforward. I also listened to the app several times per day and did the breathing techniques. I would highlight recommended it, but see it absolutely as one of the tools useful in pregnancy and labour. Things can change very quickly and if you want an epidural when the time comes, get one!

I found it helped me look forward to my labour as a positive and exciting thing and gave me a sense of control in the early stages of labour. Unfortunately I failed to progress from 6cm and needed an EMCS. Had an epidural followed by a spinal. I wouldnt hesitate to go for epidural next time as it was quick, easy and revealed all pain and made me and DH very calm about everything.
