Next should allow orders of maternity wear

Hi guys!

I think this issue should be passed on.

Next is reopening its ordering system for just a few lines, specifically childrenwear and some homeware. This is great! (DD1 is starting to outgrow her clothes Confused)

I think they should definitely add maternity wear as well. Maternity wear is not for looks or fashion, it's important! Normal clothes can become very uncomfortable and even painful.

Next has a great selection of maternity jeans for example. Not only skinny jeans but also straight, bootcut, boyfriend, from the top of my head.

Who agrees with me?

If Next don’t want your custom, go elsewhere. I found George at Asda good and reasonable.

TriangleBingoBongo · 14/04/2020 14:04

DP and H&M have great maternity clothes and much cheaper than next. I didn’t find theirs to be great quality either

perniciousdot · 14/04/2020 14:06

Not really. But I have never understood the NEXT cult. There are lots of places to buy clothes. If NEXT are not selling them vote with your mouse and buy elsewhere.

ChipsAreLife · 14/04/2020 14:08

Asos has loads of maternity clothes

starrysimon · 14/04/2020 14:11

I think maternity wear is a fad really unless you want to wear jeans which imo are uncomfortable during pregnancy anyway. Just size up in leggings, dresses etc! It’s way cheaper and less waste as can only use maternity wear during pregnancy mainly. I’ve been wearing leggings throughout my entire pregnancy and only sized up from small to medium a month or so ago as they’re so stretchy

TriangleBingoBongo · 14/04/2020 14:17

Hmmm I found that if I just sized up I had enormous shoulders, bust and I’ll fitted clothes.

Iheardit · 14/04/2020 14:18

I have ordered a few bits off newlook. I don’t agree that sizing up in leggings works out cheaper, if I were to buy bigger size leggings (I never wear them) I would also have to buy tops to cover my bum, then I would have items that are to big after pregnancy. I would have got everything I needed off eBay, but at the moment selling/buying isn’t the best idea.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/04/2020 14:23

I think it's silly of them not to, but they are not the only retailer selling maternity wear so they will just lose out as women shop elsewhere. Which is what I'd suggest you do, OP, rather than get all het up about this.

BertieBotts · 14/04/2020 14:27

Ebay is best for maternity clothes, you'll only wear them for a few months.

Except when I was pg, the only bit of me that grew was my bump. To have sized up meant that clothes didn’t fit me properly and made me look ridiculous. I needed maternity clothes from quite early on as it cost me no more to buy properly fitting maternity clothes rather than I’ll fitting ‘normal’ clothes in bigger sizes.

carleyemma91 · 14/04/2020 14:38

Try Boohoo.com they're really reasonably priced and their pjs/leggings are super comfy.

hearditfromanunicorn · 14/04/2020 14:39

H&M black mama maternity leggings and I worn the same 3 stretchy non maternity tops in rotation. Believe me I had a massive bump, but it depends on what you already have. I could no way wear normal leggings past 3 months . I had M then the large of the maternity leggings as got bigger.

PotteringAlong · 14/04/2020 14:50

eBay is your friend here

grey12 · 14/04/2020 14:55

Don't wear leggings don't wear skinny jeans.....
Before I got pregnant I literally went into every clothes shop in a big shopping mall and the ONLY shop that sold non skinny jeans was next. Got my previous maternity jeans from HandM but this time could only find skinny fit there.
It's a struggle to get straight jeans.... maternity or otherwise. That's why I ended up in Next.
Do you know another (not expensive) shop that sells non skinny, non high waist, not ripped???

@Maryann1975

I’ve been all bump throughout both my pregnancies, with my first pregnancy I had a thigh gap up until 35 weeks (started off slightly bigger this pregnancy so thigh gap wasn’t there to start with) i still found sized up leggings/tops the best. Pair leggings with a oversized t shirt and thin belt above the bump and it’s a pretty good look, I am a big fan of primark during pregnancy, you can get very cheap fashionable clothing that (if you’re inventive) is far nicer than maternity wear. I always scrolled through online maternity wear feeling disappointed by the lack of choice! I got a whole maternity wardrobe for £50 from primark, couldn’t even get an outfit elsewhere for that!

squee123 · 14/04/2020 16:27

Gap have girlfriend and boot as well as skinny. Serpahine do boyfriend jeans.

Hawse · 14/04/2020 16:43

I've been extremely impressed with both H&M leggings, and GAP maternity. Both shipping at the moment (in fact, my GAP order came within 24 hours!!!).

Notverybright · 14/04/2020 16:50

I thought we all supposed to be rewarding responsible companies with our custom when all this is over? Hmm

Next have done the right thing imho and telling people not to buy from them if they don't want your custom is awful.

Maybe you should contact next customer services about maternity wear op?

Ronnie27 · 14/04/2020 17:02

I was all bump with both mine, I paid out for maternity clothes in my first pregnancy which I then gifted to friends afterwards but it wasn't worth it for the wear I got out of them so I didn’t bother the second time and just got away with floaty dresses and maxis by the time I was showing. I wouldn’t bother unless you want to wear jeans or trousers and then ASOS are a pretty good shout for maternity lines.

kenandbarbie · 14/04/2020 17:06

Just buy from ASOS!

Butterymuffin · 14/04/2020 17:06

Ask them on social media. If they say no, let them know you'll buy elsewhere.

perniciousdot · 14/04/2020 17:08

Next have done the right thing imho

If what OP says is indeed correct I am interested in why you think it is the right thing to sell home ware but not maternity wear?

Notverybright · 14/04/2020 17:11

I meant in stopping online orders originally. I agree with the op maternity wear should be included. Sorry for not being clear.

BlueLadybird · 14/04/2020 17:14

You can size up in some things but others really need to be maternity. Jeans and tops are better in maternity.

The reason Next are limiting to kids and home will probably be as they are least likely to be returned. I’ve never ordered from Next but whenever I am in the store there is always people returning womenswear. They won’t want that coming BACK to the warehouse
